感觉是这样的中国变通，西方是按部就班。 中国请假可以，但是有些时候会让你补过来。 西方就是工作就工作，该放假就放假，该休息就休息。不会多不会少。

This video was a real eye opener! I was always told that Chinese bosses were crazy and very strict. No time off. Tons of overtime with zero appreciation. Get blamed for things because the boss can't be wrong. So I was always afraid to take up a job with Chinese management. It might just be a sign of the times. I have actually heard that these days Chinese workers are much more relaxed and still get their job done only now they can do it at their own pace. Nobody stresses out. Pay is great and you get paid personal days. Holidays are abundant especially when you ask the older generation. I mean I've seen dramas that have super reasonable bosses but I totally thought that was just because it was a show. Like seriously you have a family crisis and decide to take off for the rest of the day? Not realistic right? Compared to my job I'm overworked. I handle many different departments at the office because the management is too greedy to hire more people that might cut into their profits. I've had to beg for scraps to get a raise out of them even when they pile more work onto me. Zero respect. Everything is for the profit and they don't care what it takes for you to get the job(s) done they just want it done. If you have anything to say they attack you like a pitbull making it very obvious they don't think of you as a human being but a statistic. If the economy wasn't as bad as it is I'd have definitely found a different job but who can afford to quit the job they have these days? On the other hand I want to point out that I can take any personal days off. Since it's unpaid the bosses would actually be ok with it just based on how they won't be paying you for that day and also when you get back the next day all that work you missed will still be waiting for you with the same deadlines and the same expectations as if you'd worked the whole day you were off. On the other other hand I have had bosses that told me to get cracked versions of software before. Not all offices operate legitimately because that $1000 software would cut into profits. Conversely I've heard that Chinese companies are one of the reasons why there's such a large market for open source software. For example Microsoft Office is expensive. Open Office and WPS office are free. Most of the jobs I've had they use Microsoft Office and buy the licenses or get cracked versions of them with keygens. But I've heard WPS especially is popular in China. Lastly that segment about initiative. It gets talked about so much at my different jobs but they really hate it. Everything has to go according to what your superviser thinks it should be and if you try doing anything different you're rocking the boat and that could prevent you from getting a raise. I know from my parents that this was not the case with their Chinese jobs. Anything you could do that might increase productivity was a merit on your part. People have gotten better year end bonuses as a result of initiative. That's why one time my dad told me he tried something different at work that increased his productivity only for his boss to reprimand him. He was so confused because the way he was doing it was slow and broke up his momentum. The new routine he worked out made him finish things much quicker and with much less room for error but that got him in trouble. He called it "yang ren zhen ben!" but after I worked at a few jobs I realized something. Western bosses and supervisers don't actually like initiative. They like it when you follow orders. As a Jewish friend once explained to me when you do something that is asked of you you get what he called mitzvahs or good deed points. But doing something on your own was just something you decided to do and doesn't get you any kind of credit even if it benefits someone else. Observing the Sabbath? Mitzvah. Helping your mom with the groceries when you see its too much for her to carry by herself and she didn't ask you to? Nothing.

沒記錯請假這種事，國外的確要提前請，但一般來說都不會拒絕，臨時也不是先跟老闆說，應該是先找代班或想辦法，沒法子了就要補償同事，正常來說他們工作不會很緊密，所以就是大家忙一點。 反而華人老闆才沒有那麼好請，臨時有事不是重大事件，基本上很少會批假，就算批了也不是簡單補班了事。 當然也是有好的但就比例問題，國外也沒有都這麼好，只是兩者比例好壞應該是相反。

I think this video shows that western culture treats employment without empathy, whereas Chinese culture treats their employees more fairly and have more compassion. I guess Westerners take too many liberties when working, whereas the Chinese probably keep to their promises more. Please let me know your thoughts!

Hmm, as someone who has worked in four different software companies. The western one seems off. 1) You can take time off a day before, it's just frowned upon because you didn't' give notice. The only time a manager would deny it is if you were crucial to a task. 2) Accurate 3) Accurate 4) Sometimes accurate, sometimes a manager will work against you in the future if you don't work overtime to complete the task given. 5) Every company I have gone too uses Slack, which is a chat system. We also use email too as well. 6) This was extremely inaccurate, every company I have to schedule meetings constantly and for no good reason. They also have people who aren't necessary for the meeting be involved in them. Aside from those inaccuracies, the video was great and hilarious.

思维方式不一样，比如这个换了一个更便宜且质量更好的供应商，为什么西方老板会觉得有风险？原因在于除了价钱和质量，还有许多其他因素的考量。例如持久的供应能力，交货期，公司在供应商中的信誉和形象等等。我们中国人办事情往往只考虑关键因素，就是同等条件下的成本。谁对谁错无法评断。

Interesting views and some quite true, however taking time off work is the opposite for me. Ask for 3 days and the foreigner boss says just take the whole week off and gives extra free days, thinks nothing more of it and no bad grudges. The asian boss will approve the 3 days and complain to others,. Then shove more work down your way with ridiculous deadlines just before you go away and call your mobile to ask about work during your time off.

Chinese boss is better because the employee is also Chinese :D

请假、供应商、邮件这些更多是大公司和小公司的区别，大公司比较讲流程，小公司比较灵活，都是适应不同的公司情况。版权、加班确实是国情了

WeChat 那部分完全認同，email 才有追溯性，若是更重要的內容，還得入公司系統管理。且群發的另一用意也是備份 雖然沒用過WeChat,但用過line,你覺不會想碰到一個月前客戶，供應商發的照片，被宣告過期無法開 所以，現在我寧可失去客戶，也不會同意用line, WeChat,來溝通。重要事就email，沒guts怕擔責，這生意接了只會賠更多
