Good job!!! You should have put Terostat where the case of the vent sits on the roof with Sikaflex on the edges, like used to on camper vans. That is going to last for more years

I ordered one of these, off ebay, it got delivered damaged and with the knob missing. Fiamma all the way for me, like your build series.

Nice video, I like the look of these fans for my roof. Can you partially open the lid just a bit using the buttons or does it go all the way up and down? Thanks.

Hi, Been watching this video a few times and trying to search for the product and I can’t seem to find it. I’m after a motorised one with blinds installed too. Any help appreciated. Good videos by the way

Can anyone help me I got the same mk5, I'm learning everything off you tube and would like to know if you prime the roof before you paint it or will it be OK because it's fiberglass?

Thanks Trevor, it wasn’t too much of a problem. The larger opening just made the mounting surface around the edge slightly smaller. The inside wooden frame is essential though for clamping it all together 👍🏼

Interesting! due to the hole being bigger, did you avoid screwing through the metal of the van and went directly into the wooden frame?

That’s right it’s screwed through the wooden frame and the roof is sandwiched in between with sikafkex 👍🏼

Hi, I just got a similar fan, wanted to know if you had to pull off the ‘manual opening knob ‘, to separate the fan to fit?? Cheers

Hello mate, the knob didn’t come off on this one. The fan unit is in one piece that is stuck to the roof.

Interesting find, mate! I wonder how it compares to MaxxFan and Fantastic in terms of performance. The good thing is that it doesn't stick out like Maxx airfan and keeps a low profile; And doesn't seem to be as noisy as Maxx. I wonder what was the price of this Chinese fan???

The lower profile is something that appealed to me too. It varies in price around £160-200 mark. I'm pleased with it and had it for a year now 👍

I’m a big fan, it’s great at circulating the air in/out of the van. Very efficient energy wise, quiet on slow settings so it can run all night and it comes with a remote, so no need to get up to turn it off. The one thing that lets it down is the fact it makes a draft sound when the wind blows across it as it has built in ventilation. But ventilation is key to prevent condensation in vans so I don’t let it bother me. It’s also a very reasonable price compared to similar ones on the market.

It was around that much, you can get them cheaper on eBay but I wanted to get from Amazon as it’s easier to return if needed. No leaks so far🤞🏼

Does the roof vent fan fit a 400mm hole?

Hi, it does just about. The flange is just wide enough to get a good seal around the outside and using a wooden frame sandwiches it nicely in position.

Hi, not that I know of. They all make sound but this one is relatively quiet on the slower settings.

Was very happy with it. I like that it’s low profile on the roof, good settings selection and the price is much cheaper that branded alternatives :)

The one downside to that fan that I can see is you don't seem to have any control over how much the vent can be opened or closed, It seems it only opens all the way or closes all, no in between.
