Good morning KZfaq, I hope you love the footage of bringing home Finn as much as me, he is just the cutest ever and is already settling in nicely. I admit I was actually pretty nervous about picking him up; you never really know what you're getting until you see for yourself, but thankfully his previous owner was very sweet and Finn seemed completely healthy and happy! He was pretty nervous in the car, and for some time at home, but eventually he was able to calm down and relax in his new cage.

Finn LOVED his new home as soon as he got in! I saw his whiskers moving like "hmmm I LIKE THIS" as soon as he landed. Then straight to his little cubby to chew sticks. Happy Chin!

It feels so weird to read his name as a Finn myself from Finland of course lol. Welcome to Finland buddy. We have National and International chinchilla shows in Finland 😀. I used to raise albinose from two beige parents who kept getting albino babies. They were more towards yellow than black their whiteness but Finn is extremely cute honey pie 😘❤️🥰!

Sadly chins can't really casually interact, they're pretty territorial animals! But hopefully he will get along with Knox since I plan to bond them!

Awe, isn't he beautiful! I would love a mosaic chinnie. I have three chinnies, and zero intention of getting more. All of mine sort of "happened" upon me. I didn't seek them out. They found me.

Finn's log day 3: "I am still being held prisoner by these large creatures. My, they are strange. They are ginormous, and walk on 2 legs! I have never seen such a thing before, not in all my years. They are taking me somewhere new now. Log end".

He's INFINITE Cute! Just Some Questions.. First, Where Do U Get Your Chins? Cause They Are ADORABLE! Second, What Cages Do You Have?? Because I Don't Want to Overwhelm My Chins With too Big or too small of a cage... And Last How Much is Their WHOLE Care List? Like Food, Water, Toys, Cage, Dust, Etc.. I didn't, he came from a follower who asked me if I'd adopt him. Before that, he was purchased from a friend of hers who bought him at a ranch

I will certainly try! For a while, Finn's probably not going to be in many of our short videos, because he's still getting comfortable with his new surroundings and environment! and no haha Finn is our last, and aptly named so ;)

What is your secret? When I brought my chin home, Nym, she didn't want us looking at her! It's been a year, and she just recently let me pet her. Let alone picking her up! Is there something I am doing wrong?

Probably nothing wrong, probably just not enough. I really feel chins need to be desensitized to their people and surroundings and noises so they know not to fear anything, especially you! The next video is what I've done so far with him and details about the kinds of motions and interactions I have with him!

They do take some pushing, so to speak. Picking them up and petting them when they don't want to be, even just putting your hand in their cage and having them sniff it. Sometimes, though, it's just the chinchilla. I had one who wanted nothing to do with me, and was really quite aggressive, to the point of attacking my hands if I got anywhere near her. She'd bite the bars of her cage so viciously I was afraid she would break her teeth. She would destroy everything in her cage, and tore the wheel off the side and chewed it apart. Eventually, I got her a solid metal wheel called a Flying Saucer, and she would run on it for hours. Then I could pick her up, but only for a few minutes before she'd start biting again. Worked every day for a couple years just to get to that point, but she never drew blood after that. Never had another one like her. You do your best, and some chinchillas, like anything else, just don't want to interact much. Hang in there. You'll figure her out.

How expensive is a chinchilla?

Depends on the breeder and the color you want. The breeder I got mine from has babies from $170.00 up to $250.00. Gray is most common color and cheapest.

Cages, a full set up will probably cost 700-1000 dollars, then there’s food costs and bedding, medical bills… they’re pricey, and not great companions as they are nocturnal and don’t typically love cuddles
