This is the 3rd video about my Anycubic Chiron to Voron Switchwire AKA ChironWire conversion.
Electronics install. It's probably one of the most vague parts of building a printer, because most of the controllers, breakout boards, adapters and parts we order for our printers or other electronic hobbies today, don't seem to come with good detailed documentation. Most of the time, they don't come with any at all! Usually just a barcode to scan that takes you to the manufacturer's website- and sometimes, it's not even in a language you might speak!
Other times, especially when it comes to products that run programs, operating systems, or firmware that are open source- like Klipper, or Marlin, or Linux- don't come with directions, because there are so many possibilities and combinations of what can be done with the product. This leads us to checking the web, like github or various forums, KZfaq, Reddit or Facebook for answers. And even then, the combinations of hardware and software are almost endless, and ever growing and changing.
In this video, I won't be covering the software end of things because that deserves it's own attention. I will say that Klipper for the first time is a bit confusing, especially for a not-off-the-shelf-printer with CANbus added. But I will say I did get it to work, and I am learning how to use Klipper.
Details like which wires go where, and exact terminals used on each board are not discussed because it can vary from board to board, and also depends on each part you use in your build. There is also a lot of firmware flashing that needs to be done in order for it to work- it does not work off the shelf. This requires minimal knowledge of linux command line.
I hope this overview will help you in your own build, I know I was a bit overwhelmed with where to start on the wiring, but if you take it one section at a time- its not too difficult. But, take it slow and verify everything before turning power on! Mains voltage can be dangerous and even deadly if not done correctly. 24v and 5v can be hazardous to your electronics and burn expensive parts up if not connected correctly too!
