Thanks for the translation, it got me to binge-read that villaness manga and I absolutely enjoyed it. I've read solo leveling a few times and it's indeed really good. I love the dynamic between these two, Choco has always been like an older sister to Subaru. They are so sweet together. Its easy to forget they are actually from the same generation.

Anyone else here got kinda confused when it turned out they weren't talking about [My Next life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!]? I didn't realize there were so many stories that dealt with the concept of reincarnating as an otome game villainess. (now that i think about it though, i guess they were tallking about manga and not light novels.)

After I watched that anime I wanted to see if there was more stuff like it and it turns out that's a whole genre for manga and light novels (getting reincarnated into an otome game as a villain).

Isekai genre is good, i have been reading lots of those novels The one Choco mentioned in the beginning might be Hamehura or common sense of Duke's daughter Choco sensei also watched tensura and some other shounen isekai

Fushigi Yuugi is the best isekai in my opinion. I was only in 5th grade when I first watched the show. The only other anime I'd been exposed to at that point was Pokemon back on WB4kids. A couple others I can remember off the top of my head are Spirited Away and Inuyasha. (Could Lain be considered an Isekai of sorts?) I honestly hate just about all of the modern ones though. Konosuba is great but, I can't help but think it opened up the gates to a now over repeated format, of being trapped in a "game" world.

What's fushigi yuugu about? I've heard of it but haven't watched it. (Konosuba is more of a parody of isekai, rather than an actual isekai I think. And Lain is probably more psychological. And the whole game concept probably stemmed from somewhere around SAO)

@@holosubs8448 without spoiling much, two girls get trapped in a library book set in a fantasy world. They have to essentially "save the world" with the help of seven chosen people. But, there's seven good and seven bad. At first they only want to get home but as they spend time in the book they begin to question which world they fit in with better, each girl having their own reasons why. Konosuba is a parody within its genre though. And while I still think it helped put more eyes on the isekai genre, I do think you're right about SAO being the one to popularize the game theme more.
