Deep see fish are actually quite interesting. Because of the lack of light and therefore lack of marine plants, they have to rely on very unique adaptations to the lack of food, such as eating the leftovers of organic matter, producing their own light to attract prey or even stop moving at all to save energy.

The Black Swallower, anglerfish, giant squids battling sperm whales, giant isopods, the weirdos that hang around hydrothermal vents, whale fall scavengers, mysterious hypnotic lightshows, there's some cool shit down there.

I have so much respect for nature and the ecosystem of Earth as a whole, but parasites are seriously one of the few aspects that seriously freak me out. I can deal with the violent life of insects and the disturbing sex life of ducks and penguins, but i draw the line at eye worms. I mean, you guys can have fun studying your tiny chest bursters as much as you want, i'll just stick to watching birds doing messed up stuff and watching people argue about how people should draw their dinosaurs.

The Pelican Eel or Gulper Eel, has its mouth like that to scoop up as much as it can because the food availability at the very bottom of the sea is pretty scarce. The Dumbo Octopus really has big ear looking things that it uses to move around and hover. Deep sea creatures are pretty cool.

I'm quite amused to the fact that Fubuki called it "fuusen unagi", which is literally " balloon eel". That is a deep sea eel commonly known in English as the gulper eel, and while they do have the ability to 'balloon' themselves for defense, the behavior itself is pretty uncommon. I just find it interesting because she called it with a name that's least fitting to the skinny gulper eel, yet it is one of the names in Japanese.

Parasites topic reminded me of that woman in china who ate raw pork since she was a kid I think, and her whole body would lit up on an x-ray because she was completly FULL of parasites, every part of her body. Very scary and disgusting.
