An absolutely SUPERB musician who plays effortlessly with great artistry, tremendous virtuosity, marvellous singing tone, and deep understanding of Chopin's psyche! The etudes have never been played better, but the nocturne (easily the most demanding of the 19), and the mazurka showed his remarkable sensitivity, great sense of style, and mature understanding of the implicit meaning in Chopin's music. He managed to make the Scherzo, -- certainly the easiest of the four, and one of the most hackneyed pieces in the literature --, both exciting and truly beautiful tony jaded old ears. NO ONE who enters these big competitions plays poorly, so it's impossible to say who is "best," but this young man certainly stands out as one of the most well-equipped keyboard artists in every regard in a world crammed to the gills with with great virtuosi.

Shishki incarne Chopin comme je l'écoute, comme je l'entends et l'imagine depuis maintenant 80 ans. Une maîtrise de l'émotion; une puissance et une force qui respectent la douceur. Un doigté remarquable et un rythme envoûtant. Bravissimo.

This piano is the Best sounding instrument of the Competition. Sonorous and harmonic; far beyond the colors of the Steinway. No wonder so many used it. It is the right sound for Chopin. Beautiful playing here. Bravo.

@@antonygonzalez1672 Yep, but thats a "Yamösendorfer". Bösendorfers tends to be quite dark. Seems like its the perfect combination!

i prefer the sound of the Fazioli, although not many pick that piano, i wonder why? some say it's a difficult piano to play on, any truth to that?

This is the best rendition of Chopin's C-dur Study followed by the TRANSCENDENT one in a-moll. Monumental playing!

I am sure glad I am NOT on that Chopin competition jury. How does oen select a winner from among the amazingly talented and very muscial finalists? Dmitry could easily have been declared the grand champion.

+Anna Poteralska He made a ton, and I mean a ton of errors and is not in sync with the piano line. He is not even close to the best in the field, sorry. I know the notes.

+Vette gaddia Well, he played all the notes just about perfectly (I noticed one mistake in the scherzo..is that what you are refering to?). SO you know the wrong notes not him!

Jozef Gmuca I know the score, do you? Do you have the manuscript in front of you? I like his grand sound and poetry. But he looks worst than Lang Lang with his facial expressions. I can't look at his face. He is handsome until he plays.

Amazing Dimitri Shishkin....I am so glad that there is now a days such a great artist...No matter he did not get the first prise...It does not matter....I think jury was jelous on him not giving him the first prise...It is unbelivable Chopen...So difgicult works...It is according to my taste even besser than Kissin,more musical,more relaxed,very correct....One can only be very jelous not giving him the first prise...

Lol nice catch. I couldn't imagine ever playing in that kind of environment. Those kinds of mistakes can happen to anyone at any time. And then you just have to keep going as if nothing happened, even though it has to be eating you up inside.

Salomon P - I don't agree at all. In terms of facility and technical abilities, they are about the same. He gives an almost note perfect performance at the same level she did.

Good execution of etudes but nothing exceptional... not very incisive accent, the first etude man... it IS pure power for right hand. He does not emphasise the right notes! It has big hands but not big force. Listen to nocturne... no... I like yes, but no very much. Linear... too much linear ! He lacks of soul. Doesn't win, right ?
