Just like Johnny Cash was meant to sing Trent Reznor’s lyrics in “Hurt”, Chris was meant to sing MJ’s lyrics in this. Both Chris & Johnny brought those lyrics to a whole new level. Chris brought out all the pain of the lyrics.

Gotta love this cover...M.J. was great; but, this by Chris Cornell is something else altogether. These 'Reactions' to the tunes of yesterday ARE important at this time in history because regardless of skin shade; we all share one in the same country. It's vital to remind folks that we're ALL Americans in the United States and most certainly; the music of the whole world for the last 80 years since WW2 reflects this fact.

The despair in the song is there in MJ's live performance in Germany. Towards the end he looks like his soul is being ripped out. In spite of the infectious beat and bass line the underlying emotion lurks beneath the surface. This version is like that the whole time.

Love how raw this version is! ❤ I love your thoughts you shared at the end too, about how talking to someone can change their day. One time in the darkest point in my life, sitting outside a store with tears streaming down my face, in deep distress, about to attempt to end my pain. One lovely lady sat down beside me and asked me if I was ok. I'll never forget it. A stranger taking the time to sit with me and ask, "are you ok?" That small gesture is the reason I am still here today. She may be completely unaware that she saved a life that day, by speaking to a stranger ❤

Was not around when you were dancing to MJ and this track. Lucky you. I never knew this cover was around until the last few weeks. I like Chris Cornell a lot. The cover and the original by MJ are so different. I don't think it would be surprising to hear that Michael Jackson was not only a better performer than almost anybody but probably one of the greatest performers ever. With his moves and his weird eccentric originality, the song can't really be outdone when it comes to those things. That being said, anyting Cornell ever sing that I heard never has disappointed. I just heard recently that he did a cover of GNR track, patience. I have to say that when it goes all the way back to the grunge-alternative or even earlier to the guns and roses type music, Chris Cornell has the favorite voice from me even though I feel like Axl Rose had the voice that was more versatile and could hit six or seven octaves. The only reason I just thought of Axl Rose was because I did mention I have not heard Chris Cornell's cover Patience. Sad and crazy that these people are leaving the world before the world wanted them to leave. Hope that makes sense

The angst, raw emotion & blues in his voice are unlike anyone else, like the Lyric he wrote in Black Hole Sun "Nobody sings like you anymore". My cousin died of suicide around the same time Chris did & never showed signs but as someone who has struggled with mental health as well to Quote the Rap Group Atmosphere "One little flicker of light Can erase the dark".

we lost Quintell from the start! Laron was not far behind. It is really interesting to take a pop song or a faster tempo song and slow it down. really give the listener time to take in the message. very powerful. that's what all the great time tested guitar solo's do. they slow it down here and there, giving the listener time to absorb the content, you can't hum to back if it is just so crazy fast it is all a blur. listen to some really good blues, they are the masters at this. my favorite video, and I would love to see the bros watch this, is SRV and Johnny Copeland with Double Trouble doing Tin Pan Alley. It's a master class for the blues. Keep the video's coming guys. you all make me smile!
