He wrote it about his housekeeper who ran his home, Sinead took it later and made it number 1. This is the best vocal interpretation of the song, Cornell was at the apex of lead vocalists. Great choice!

@@Ryan-F.Y.T.S2006 Lennon said this: "'Imagine', which says: 'Imagine that there was no more religion, no more country, no more politics,' is virtually the Communist Manifesto, even though I'm not particularly a Communist and I do not belong to any movement." The less daft among us will note the stark difference between Lennon's quote and your restatement of it. I'd wager you don't really have a damn clue what the communist manifesto says, as well.

Outshined was the first song I heard when it was released and I was a young teenager. I fell in love with Soundgarden’s music immediately. Listened to Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Chris’s solo music, then later Audioslave of course. Chris also sang a song with Lane Staley on Alice In Chains Sap album. His music was a huge part of my life growing up.

Troubadour's a good show but he has many of that calibre. That was more or less the prelude to his "songbook" format (with the famous red phone onstage) that would make up many tours over the following years; songs like When I'm Down were regular and he always did them justice. It's hard to overstate how many shows he did and how consistent he was over the last decade plus. Some videos come and go but there's still a lot on youtube, many are entire concerts, some are individual songs. Here's a great performance of Blow Up The Outside World at Bospop 2012 with some fun improv and not many views. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ptKkf7uhlrrKfGQ.html & one of a couple Otis Redding covers kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f9acgpWimazGoWw.html Mind the quality.

Can't hear him without bursting into tears. Even though I still grieve his passing and pray for his 3 beautiful children, I'm so grateful that I was alive when he was so that I could appreciate his gift. J, when you get a chance, between working, doing videos, spending time with your family friends, etc, I suggest you take a listen to the last album Chris released whilst he was alive called Higher Truth. It showcases a softer, more mature side & perspective in his lyrics and sound. Through The Window, Worried Moon, Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart, Let Your Eyes Wander, Higher Truth, etc and, of course, a love song you could dedicate to Adrienne, called Before We Disappear. Simply amazing. Thanks. Much love from Buffalo, NY. ✌

It's interesting that you guys talk about 'front porch singing' and Chris. And you are absolutely right, he does, well, DID, have that soulful voice just right for that kind of music. And yet, he could sing pretty much ANYTHING and crush it- he was just so gifted. He could sing the phonebook (young people probably won't know what a phonebook is! Lol). I do agree, I often wonder where music would be at if people like him and Layne Staley were still alive and sharing their voices.

BROTHER JAMEL, Dude mannn... I really love your two bros mannn!! Gettin to know Jamel for awhile makes me smile when i see your two knucklheads sittin there with you laughin orrrrr goin in deep to Chris Cornell. I was tellin people about Chris since 92, so i love watching people's face change when they hear him open up at the beginning of this song. Your bro to your right with the always cool bucket...His expression goes from ALRIGHTY BRO! LETS DO THIS! to this concerned look at Chris, the same concern i felt for him every time i heard him cry anguish into beauty. "This is real mannn, he feels this." So from age 22 in 92 , every time i heard songs from TEMPLE OF THE DOG to solo stuff, WHEN IM DOWN, ALL NIGHT THING, SEASONS, CALL ME A DOG, SUNSHOWER etc I sincerely worried about him as if he was my brother. The pain projects the songbird out to fly free with such beauty and grace... but... you hear and feel the pain....there's something wrong here...This man is crying. On a lighter note, and one im sure Chris would laugh at.... Many a man around the globe.... proudly....admit...."Chris Cornell can make a grown man cry." YES....INDEED. Sssso.... What if Cornell was a Super Hero!!? His Super Power?? MAKING GROWN MEN CRY! HANNA BARBERA style/KISSsavesSANTAfamilyGUY "With Gotham falling to the thugs which developed immunity to the powers of Batman and the dweeb Robin, the city was a free for all of crime and injustice....until now...Little did these thugs know...a never before revealed super hero was unleashed by the Super Powerstation to place justice once again at the top of society.... He flies in out of nowhere with long hair flowing, with a torso that says, "I'm here to kick ass!" and Superpowered eyes that literally melt women(havent perfected that one yet) His voice is more powerful than a locomotive and its ceiling was taller than the tallest building...and with that voice...he quickly snatched up the job of the singing frog by day, and fought crime by night... HHHHHELLLLP!!! I'm being raped!!!! Cornell swoops down between the knife wielding thug and a scared little girl... the tension is thick and the knife is huge!! not as big as Croc Dundee's noif, but pretty scary anyway, and would gut a man with one swipe. Chris takes a fighting posture against the swordsman as he taunts the unknown superhero with all kinds of fux and u's as well as barbecue ideas on how he will cook the little girl and superhero before eating with Arby's Horsey Sauce. Chris then pulls an acoustic guitar from his quiver and begins to initiate the biggest, baddest, most affective weapon to ever be used on mankind. He opens up a can of woopass with NOTHING COMPARES 2 U, and within the first 5 seconds the thug is reduced to a crying mess of gutter water that bawls and rolls around on the ground for hours before starting a new crimeless life. Thank You Chris, For helpin me through the tough times.
