The energy between chris Pratt and Jack Black were night and day.

You know, I think I'd rather take Bob Hoskins' visible but honest dislike of his Mario movie over the shifty-eyed fake enthusiasm Pratt has for his.

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this. I didn't get the chance to watch the Nintendo Direct on Friday and was only able to watch the trailer today. I thought his voice was fine in the trailer and while I agree that the voice of Mario should 100% be Charles Martinet I think the movie will do just fine and it still looks incredible. I don't know how they didn't refilm his interview because he couldn't seem less interested if he tried. Its like people are already getting upset about him playing the role he could at least seem enthusiastic about it. Unless he just figures people are going to hate on him no-matter what and he's just like screw it. Still really cringe though.

How Funny ! Chris Pratt was 4 years old when the original Mario Bros Arcade cabinet came out, and in that game you could not stomp....Koopas. you had to jump underneath them, flip them over and kick them in the water. Then Super Mario Bros Cabinet came out in early 1986, on a Nintendo VS. System (after the original game came out on NES in 1985) so basically, if that is the version Chris is talking about, he was 7 years old at the time. Spending contless hours in an arcade stomping...koopas when you we're 7 years old in the eighties, is a little hard to believe. In short, Chris is f____ng with you, he has no clue what this movie or character is about.

To me, it sounds like Chris Pratt is being randomly forced by Nintendo to voice Mario, which may be why he sounds SOOO introverted! 😂 Also, correction: Miyamoto is NOT the CEO of Nintendo, but he is a representative director at Nintendo & a "fellow" at Nintendo (whatever that means lol). I don't think even he needed to do that, the actors aren't required to have all the knowledge of the characters, I don't hate Chris Pratt or his role as Mario, but they didn't have to do the typical "ohhh I'm so excited about this, I remember that when I was little..." at least Jack Black seemed to be more honest

Honestly the animation for the movie looks the most visually stunning for an mainstream animated movie (alongside Spider Man Into The Spider Verse) I’ve seen in my life and also the fact Jack Black is definitely an spot on choice for voicing Bowser. And I’ve been playing a ton of Mario games since I was around 7 and still am today. So I’d be absolutely down to see the movie 😀😀🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The fact that he said he spent hours jumping on koopas in the original Mario Bros game is actually hilarious. Anyone who played the original Mario Bros even ONCE learns the hard way that you absolutely, positively, do *NOT* under any circumstances jump on the koopa troopas, it's an instant death. I remember when I first played it, dying after jumping on a koopa and never forgetting that lesson. I respect Anya Taylor Joy for being honest that she didn't play a lot of Mario growing up and having fun playing the games as an adult as research.

I've seen a bunch of different fandubs of the mario trailer, and even the worst ones have better Mario performances than Chris Pratt's performance. It just goes to show that even amateur voice actors are better at voice acting then most Hollywood actors.

The thing that sucks though is that he was improving on his acting but Nintendo fired him before he could get a chance which kind of sucks I feel bad. And apparently they were using a older voicing that he did. So who knows what he could be capable of.

There's not the unanimous outrage ugly Sonic encountered. It just sucks that his unenthused ass got the part instead of ANY giddy little fanboy who would have given it his all. Even so, one thing very few are considering, is that the video is heavily edited, and that it's very likely that "Mushroom Kingdom, here we come." is out of context and may not belong to that scene at all. Aside from that gripe, I LOVED it! There's a million little things I wonder about, like in the actual movie will the airship music be played in place of the trailer music? Will a part of the adventure take place under water? And how will Donkey Kongs arc fit in the Mushroom Kingdom? Mario Kart?

I honestly think it would have been better if Chris Pratt had mentioned that he used to play Mario back in the 80's,but is a bit distanced nowadays,a bit of honesty would have worked

He might have ACTUALLY referred to what we know as "VS Super Mario Bros" Which is the arcade version of the original Super Mario Bros. But that's it. Lmao Also, I saw someone point this out but after Toad's initial freak out and relief, the scene CUTS to Toad saying "Come On, Mario!". Like there was probably a whole conversation between the two that we didn't get to see or HEAR. 🧐 This is clearly the first time meeting each other. Just something that not many people are pointing out.

Goddammit. Its true. I see it. I saw it when I watch the original direct and I cringed and moved on in a hurry. But now as I watch it here, I realize there is nothing wrong with the accent. Chris Pratt just isn't committed. Never was. It's barely more than a pain in the ass that pays. Not to say he wasn't into his role, but the performance just has this back burner vibe to it. My thing is..Why couldn't they have gotten the actual Mario voice actors to do the movie? Why did we need film actors to come in and put their spin on the characters, it's not like we're going to see them or you need tons of acting experience to read some lines. 0 reason for them to pick these big name actors over the actual people who voice the characters except for them to say they got "notable actor #2479" to be in their movie.
