What's your favorite Chris Stapleton song? Have you seen him live?
@truckerkevthepaidtourist
@truckerkevthepaidtourist 2 жыл бұрын
Never him live there's quite a few favorites actually Top 5 Might as well get stoned Parachute When the stars come out Starting over Hard living love that Waylon Jennings phaser sound he got going on that one. Although number five could alternate any day I would also have to say fire away sometimes

I saw Stapleton about a month before he was on the Grammy’s with Timberlake (when he really blew up). It was a small club in a shopping center and he was fantastic. It was a 3 piece set up with Morgan singing harmony, just like Kenny described. It’s a top 3 show for me. Favorite song would probably be “I was wrong” or “Cold”. The vocals on those two are unreal.

So many great songs, but if I had to choose one I'd go with Cold. Not seen him yet, hoping he'll visit the UK soon!

Kenny Vaughan is an icon in his own right. He deserves far more credit and recognition than most people realize. Great talent, great work ethic, he is a true journeyman and has been a major contributor to the music industry for long enough to be considered an integral fixture. Thank you Kenny.

I remember seeing Kenny Vaughn a long time ago playing for a bunch of different bands. He was a sort of goofy looking guy who played great and I was always watching him. A buddy of mine had a band for about 40 years, a very decent cover band, we were talking about great lead pickers and I thought Kenny Vaughn was about as good as there was. He said he didn't know who he was, I told him he was about 6feet tall with glasses that made him look like a someone nerdy guy from the fifties and he played for lots of different bands. My buddy said, "I know who he is and damn he is amazing". I don't know what it was about him that made me notice him back in the late 70s playing lead for someone but the first time i saw him I could not take my eyes off him. I have heard him on other interviews and he is just a cool dude. Chris Stapleton is amazing and I remember the first time I saw Marty Stuart, he was on a show playing mandolin with John Prine and someone else. He was wearing one of his Nudy suits and long hair, I love John Prine but I also had to watch Marty Stuart the whole show too. I could listen to you interviewing Kenny Vaughn reading a phone book, to have been to a show with Kenny Vaughn playing with Marty Stuart and the main act being Chris Stapleton must have been some kind of special, putting in an occasional Micky Raphael on harmonica, that would have given anyone an eargasm.

Big respect for Chris Stapleton and his way of doing things. He's got a big playlist of great stuff, but my favorite will always be his standard - Tennessee Whiskey. Ironically, I found it running through my mind this morning as I did chores - before I tuned in this morning and found this new video. Coincidence is a strange thing......Thanks to Kenny Vaughan for confirming what we already knew about Chris - that he's the real deal. Great video.

Otis I saw Chris on my birthday in 2019 in Memphis. Wonderful show. Kenny is right about it being stripped down. Nothing flashy and just a wonderful sound. He plays down his guitar playing ability but he’s a fantastic player. My favorite song in probably Midnight Train to Memphis. Plus I’m a huge fan of The Jompson Brothers. Love all their stuff. Peace brother✌️

A Jamey Johnson crowd is a lot like what Kenny described a Stapleton crowd to be. I’ve even heard JJ admonish a crowd when it started getting rowdy. My fav Stapleton song might be ‘Might As Well Get Stoned’. I love the double entendre.

Some years back a friend suggested listen to Steeldrivers & he was right, man what an incredible band, musician excellence for sure but... who is the guy singing? Man his voice ! And that was me learning who Chris Stapleton is... I can't help but get choked up listening to "Daddy don't pray here anymore" (I think that's the song title.) So forlorn lyrics and Chris's delivery makes me miss my Dad ~ gone 20 years now, still hurts not being able to talk to him.

Some of the cool.ones were his CD release gig at Ernest Tubb Record Shop with Marty's band and Chris Scruggs on Steel Guitar, his trio with the organ player at Mercy Lounge, the bar on 12th, Marty's band at Midnight Jamboree, Mike Farris in store at Grimey's, great well rounded player.
