A ustomer brought his 2021 Yamaha YZF-R1 into the shop for a dyno tune after he couldn't get it out of limp mode. Did not having the servo buddy after the exhaust install really limit the horsepower to under 100? Don't worry Moore Mafia to the rescue!

Love the tech talk on how you were able to do this Chris. I just got the mail in tune from you I'm the guy in Los Angeles with the GSXR 1000R that put in two separate places I didn't want popping on decel lol. Chris, I love that you're starting to add more of the extras on install (wire get to's) or deleting codes. I did all my exhaust & wire stuff when I installed my exhaust on my MT-10 & had little to go off of, fought it a bit. Plus I had the pesky Yamaha check engine light after ECU flash & had a dealership in Houston area quote me minimum $65 to clear the light. I watched your last MT-10 video & bought the code reader w/adapter plug. Cleared it it 5 min max

I paid under $40 for code reader & adapter w/shipping. Plus it is something I can use in the future to read/clear future codes & I can use it on all other vehicles with a OBD port.

15:00 My S1000XR did this with the factory tune too, sounds awesome, if you do it above the 6k cutoff for the PAIR valve system instead of crackles and pops you get a massive plume of flame, easily 2-3ft in length

Great work with the tune! I like how you did the pops and crackle with the touch of the throttle. That’ll be my go-to tune when I buy an R1.

You create a lean condition in 1% throttle input map only. That's how. Everything else keeping proper. Bike running lean in high load conditions will destroy the engine over time bcs lean is HOT. Lean at 1% is very little combustion. Still bad, but a very little volume of bad. Noise making not for me, but hey, different strokes for different folks.

@@czierwo even 10 years of running a bike lean at 1% load you will not notice a difference. You will have regular wear and tear repairs but this will do nothing

@@czierwo are you sure he's doing it from leanness and not richness by flooding the engine at 1% throttle? i'm still new to tuning but in my head it makes more sense as lean popping comes more from excessive heat and an incorrect mixture more than necessarily adding fuel.

So I live in an area where I see lambos, ferraris, porches, etc on a daily basis. I've always liked the pops and gurgles but seeing/hearing it on all these high end cars especially with v12s, makes me love it even more. Personally I don't like it being too excessive but it is definitely nice imo.

My 2016 with an Akra does this exact thing. I bought it second hand off original owner who had this type of then done here in Australia. To be honest, it’s what sold me on it 😂😂☺️ never ever gets old.

nice gains and to tell the truth I didn't know you can make it pop off at different times. I was under the impression it was either on or off. I was liking it but thought I would hate it after awhile but since I see it this way I'm loving it. 👍🏼🏁🏁🏁

Just did a full yoshi alpha series on a ninja 650 (2021) and it pops naturally on decel and it’s so sick! No tune. No filters (other than stock) and it’s sounds AMAZING

You did my ECU flash, Chris, but I don't remember ever talking about the pops and bangs. I have always tuned my carbureted bikes to not do that as I always equated it to a lean condition on the idle circuit, and just prefer to not hear that noise. Thanks for tuning mine to my liking! The choppy on off throttle is gone, too! Coming down any bumpy road at slow speed was a pain with the factory settings...

My 2020 r1 is flashed/tuned by someone else from previous owner. And on decel/ or trying to hold constant throttle it’s choppy like you mentioned. That all went away after Chris flashed it for you?

Pro cheap scape tip keep the servo plugged in but disconnect the cables going to the exhaust at the servo. Bike doesn't know the difference

I did exhaust block offs on one my first bikes. I found it to be so boring I said I would never do that again. I call it my bikes personality. If she throws fire after mods then great but I would not program that in. I want her to respond and do what she does naturally to whatever mods I do.

I’ve got a 2020 so same thing. I want pops and bangs. I installed a two brothers. I left the servo connected and just removed the cables. It runs fine with no issues

The pops/bangs are bad for the exhaust valves. Will burn them up. Need to keep increasing timing until it is just the crackle/rumble sound. Pop/bangs happen in the cylinder from the spark plug igniting the fuel when the exhaust valve is open. Crackle/rumble happen in the header exhaust pipe, after the exhaust valves when the fuel is ignited by the hot surfaces.

My gen 3 zx10 useing my own woolich kit does the same with the slight additional throttle..Dont know about the flames but it gurgles nicely on my nassert beet exhaust and not obscenely loud and obnoxious like many want..I see that as a "Look at me ,im mr moto gp" crap..It gets old quick.. Nice work and great vids as per normal chris..

Best thing I love about my ecu flash is I can now adjust modes while in motion. Be careful with power 1 lol it is ON OFF switch to the max. Perfect for roll racing but not daily driving. I like mode 2-3 for daily riding.

If you don’t have a servo buddy you can leave the servo motor plugged in just cables disconnected

I’m so jealous!! Man, I’ve just installed a FULL titanium exhaust on my 2019 Kawasaki ZX6R. Graves titanium headers, and Graves titanium Works2 exhaust. And a DNA filter. I NEED A TUNE SO BAD! But, I’m totally poor after spending 2K on Ti/Carbon exhaust lol…. I’m not kidding… Tune my bike, and you can put it on KZfaq making loud pops and bangz!!!! 😭😆

That 2023 R-1 after you tuned it in the other video, with the Brooks exhaust, is this sound I hear in my nightmare if I dream about my last high side accident three weeks ago! 😢 Bahahahaha! looking at doing a tune on my 22 Mt10 SP and if the tuning is the same on the MT 10 as it was on my MT 09 SP I would have to keep the O2 sensors active in order to use cruise control. Do you not have to keep the O2 sensors for the MT 10 cruise?
