NO more Mess!! This is the simplest mess free DIY way to change your own lawnmower oil, rototiller oil, ride-on lawnmower oil, jet ski oil, scooter oil, motorcycle oil, pressure washer oil or ATV oil. Takes 60 seconds! Great for changing the oil in anything that is hard to drain. Most lawnmowers today have no drain plug. Uses are endless. Super cheap to make and saves you money. Makes a great fluid extractor.
NOTE: NEVER USE THIS TO SUCK UP GASOLINE !

Great solution - the oroginal system can also be used when installing new toilet mechanisms in toilet tanks to get ALL water out of the tank before removing the external nut that typically allows dribbling onto the floor.

Just helped changed the oil in all my dads mowers. Stupid easy! We didn’t have a pop bottle but a piece of 1/4” plywood and duct tape worked just as well. Only issue I had was I put the hose a little too far into the container inside the vac and a little bubbled over even though it didn’t over fill. Tiny spill contained in the shop vas is not a big deal compared to the alternative. Plus now I know better so next time will be mess free😁

Thank you Chris! I couldn't remove the square drain plug from my riding mower oil drain hose. The drain hose is great to have if you could get some leverage applied to loosen the plug 😮!! Anyway, this is such a great idea, easy to make, and it worked perfectly. I was able to use a full 10 ft of tubing (I wasn't sure I'd have enough with 6ft) and I had a bit longer on the more rigid tubing too. My deWalt shop vac filter is centered in the container but I could still fit in a washer fluid bottle for collection because the container is flexible enough to dent in and then recover after removed. Perfect solution!! No mess!!! Reusable!!! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and skills and for all the quality videos.

Folks this guy is the right heart, and the right knowledge of how basic vacuum pumps work. I will tell you now, yes oil is messy, however it is a great fertilizer. Yeah, I said it. Guess what folks it started its life on the surface, leached down over billions of years to become the, hazardous waste you know to be oil. If you want to reasonably get rid of oil buy a cheap sprayer and before sping is in full effect, spray it on the parts of your lawn that has trouble retaining water. It will fertilize your top soil, and provide a basin under the top soil to keep water from soaking in too fast.

This worked perfect!! I have a rigid shopvac and couldn't use the 2 liter as it didn't match up with the opening, but I used a Gatorade single serve and cut it at the top indentation and used a 5/16 drill bit and angled it around a little to make the opening large enough (I don't have an 11/32 bit). I used an empty narrow container of vegetable oil inside the shop vac. It took about 2 minutes to get all the dirty oil out of my mower! I will use this contraption to change my snow blower oil too. The decision of mower companies to not put oil drain plugs on their mowers was idiotic. Who was the Einstein that made that decision?

Great idea! In fact the only idea I've seen that's better is switching all of my OPE to battery powered electric. Now I don't mess with any of this and all my equipment starts quietly with the push of a button. With no gas or oil to buy and change and refill, there is practically zero maintenance on all of my equipment.

wonderful DIY... thank you. While it won't fit in most shop vacs, kitty litter can be purchased in fairly heavy gauge plastic bottles which might work OK. Going yo have to play with this super useful tool. We full-time in our 38' RV. That means as many as 2-3 generator oil changes a week and spills just happen. Your tool is fantastic for my use. Again THANK YOU..

I have been using the same principle recently but on a much larger scale (205L / 44 Gal) drum, but did not think outside the square how this could be scaled 'down'. Brilliant. Thanks for sharing. Well made vid as well.

I always prefer to use gravity to drain oil and residue vs suction, but, this approach is literally genius.

When draining via gravity metal Particles are pulled out. Drain plugs are magnetic. I like the design. Simple. Robust. Cheap. Reuses existing tool most people already have.

Very clever! Even when the lawn mowers came with a drain plug it was still messy. There isn't any room like there is under a car to remove the drain plug and place the drain pan underneath without making a huge mess. I finally changed the oil on my Honda lawnmower last evening. But first I emptied the gas tank by tipping the mower on that side into a clean container. The last time I changed the oil with less than a half a tank of gas it spilled out and made a mess. I didn't realize how much gas my lawnmower holds it was quite a bit. Then I lifted the other side of the lawnmower onto the drain pan. I removed the dipstick and tilted the mower over. I tried to tip the mower over fast enough so it wouldn't spill on the blade housing but I wasn't that fast. Nearly all of the oil poured into the drain pan. I just mowed the front and back yard so the mower was hot and so was the oil. It took less than 15 seconds to drain. I added 12oz of 10w30 oil and were back in business.

Wanted to buy the oil extractor and a shop vac this year but I am very conservative when it comes to money spending. Now I know what I’ll buy considering that it will get WAY more uses then just sucking oils out. Brilliant stuff and instant like and subscribe.
