When I was living in Berlin in the 1980’s, I saw Thielemann and Karajan playing the Brandenburg Nr. 6 at a concert in the Philharmonie! Such an interesting interview!

And I love that Thielemann speaks nearly perfect English. “Love his accent” is what people say who have no familiarity with other languages, and no realization how nearly impossible it is to speak a foreign language with NO accent. Regardless of what you see in the movies.

This is really interesting to me, because I saw Thielemann and Karajan playing one of the Brandenburgs he mentions! I was living in Berlin at the time, and went to concerts at the Philharmonie as often as I could.

I love interviews that pertain about the great HVK. I have nearly all his videos that have been produced on dvd, and I can state HVK was the best conductor in the twentieth century. Of course Furtwangler kicked it as well. Okay, add Bruno, Klemperer, and the like. I love the BPO/. Merry Christmas

I remember in the early 1990's an interview he did with Norman Pellegrini of the Chicago symphony orchestra where he made some particularly interesting comments. He was playing the organ then but said he had to quit because it ruined his piano playing. Wolfgang Rübsam? Glenn Gould? And also expressed some difficulty with reconciling the emotional climaxes experienced in conducting with a normal life. I suspect this was a feeling familiar to Karajan.

He is wonderful, i will never like La Scala for what they did to this wonderful and talented human being, they totally disrespected and insulted him with their racism, 2015 and they would not consider him after he gave them superior service and loyalty, but because he is Asian they insulted him until he finally walked away after he realized they were nothing but inhumane racist idiots. When i read that it broke my heart, this man is so intelligent and deserves the title Maestro, where as many others don't deserve the word conductor, the concertmasters any orchestra members are superior to them.
@mariorossi9655

martha jane Chung was well loved and respected by the orchestra at la Scala. He left because of that dimwitted mongoloid Gallic invader Stephane Lissner and his lackeys at the artistic direction office. To think they wouldn't even consider him after he poured his heart and gave his all to the orchestra, what a disgrace. But on the other hand it's good that he's doing more concerts with Seoul and other Asian orchestras. The classical scene in Asia is amazing and they have a lot to give to the art as a whole. Having Chung around will help them get recognition in Europe and the US (more TV broadcasts and recordings). Just like Semyon Bichkov he's one of those underappreciated masters.
