"Golden boy" Kurt Kuykendall (Jason Burkey) has it all: good looks, a spot on his college basketball team, and hopes for playing in the Olympics. But behind the closed doors of his Bethesda, Maryland home, Kurt's life is far from perfect. An alcoholic mother (Nancy Fondriest), a power hungry father (Michael Landers), and a family tragedy make this suburban dream home a living nightmare. When Kurt gets cut at the end of his freshman basketball season, all that he's worked for crumbles. But this is far from the final word on Kurt's future. Buoyed by friends (Robby Stone, Danny Cornett, Chelsie Casagrande) and his new found faith in God, Kurt discovers courage and his true calling.

I’m an Atheist and I enjoy them. Most have very amateur acting though and some are super cringey because of the over the top nagging people,to believe in Jesus and god, and not respecting those who said No, the being preached at. Also, so hard to watch when god is praised for something that was clearly done by the medical team or an Atheist etc. many different topics and genres and many great stories

It's not always easy, but I try to make every decision consciously so I know to do it for the Glory of God. I have to practice being conscious of my decision making.

1:27:38 I love how his girlfriend is pushing him to stop letting his doubts and fears get to him, and keep pushing. That is what a godly woman is supposed to do and how she should talk to her boyfriend or husband. Not in a demeaning way, but also not giving up as soon as the guy says to "stop talking like that", because the guy doesn't want to hear it, doesn't mean it should not be said. I love...absolutely love the way she kept pushing. And again at 1:28:17 like seriously, words can't express how amazing a woman like this is. Even when the guy kind of pushes back against her, she still gracious. Like this is the love of christ being explicitly visible in her👏👏👏❤❤ You ever meet a woman like that, you marry that woman, because she is a blessing from God

"destiny helpers" never in my 81 years of life have I heard that term. God gives the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, that indwells us the moment we believe on Jesus and the holy Spirit helps us get through the rough times.

A movie ...doesn't have to be big budget to get our attention. It was an awesome human interest story. His life...with high profile dad and broken hearted mom...who in weakness, turns to substance....is multiplied over and over. Jesus came for the broken hearted, bruised and wounded. The girlfriend believing in him; is just what he needed to survive !!!! Jesus, IS a defender of the weak....and Saviour for ALL who open their heart to HIM!! Thank You Lord...for coming into our sad, broken and often boring lives; making many things new and definitely giving us your WORD...to guide us !!!!!! 👑

To think that there was a time not too long ago that I was a Facebook bully. I was a gossip and even put my opinions about matters that I knew nothing about. I hurt 😞 so many people especially in my own family 👪 and ❤😪 it took them a long time to forgive me. Some of them still haven't I told God that I wanted to change my angry heart ❤💙 into a heart that would be pleasant to Him. I'm still trying but I know I have a hard road ahead of me but I'm willing to travel it as long as God is with me all the way 🙏🙌

You can't go wrong when you follow where God leads! Sometimes we can't see past the moment, but God does, and His plans are to prosper us! God knows the ending, so if we just follow Him, we'll end up where we're meant to be and things will work out, even if we can't see that in the moment! Jesus will NEVER let you down! I can say that from my own personal experiences with Jesus, He's never once let me down!

I really loved this movie! It was especially inspiring because it was based on a true story! I was especially impressed how Kurt was always respectful to his father, but how he also stood up for what he believed, and did not allow his father to steer him away from what he felt like God’s plan and purpose for him was. I’ve always loved Jason Burkey and all the movies that he has acted in and I think he was especially powerful in the way he portrayed Kurt Kuykendall.

The guy playing Flip is Shawn David Kuykendall, the son of Kurt and Sherry Kuykendall. Sadly he died on March 12, 2014, two years after this movie was released. May he rest in peace. 💔

Philippians 4:12-14 -- I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Nevertheless, you have done well to share with me in my affliction. Kurt suffered and worked very hard to push through all the opposition... God rewarded him.

It’s so sad when an adult child cannot think for himself His parents are both toxic The mother needs to go to AA the father is in denial and even his sons in denial he needs to think fir himself. The toxic parents belong to each other I’m glad he stood up to them

Great inspirational story! I found it interesting how different eras were combined, early 1970’s events mixed in with modern technology such as when Kurt received a phone call on his cell phone from his father when he and Sherry were in a restaurant. Gave me a chuckle!
