That generation had it better than the ones after it. Being born in the 30s meant they were too young to remember the Great Depression, too young to deal with WW2, grew up in the post WW2 economic boom, fought and easily won in the Korean war and weren't hated for it. Always wondered about the timeline. If the Lebay guy (former owner) died only 6 weeks prior, how did Christine get into such disrepair like that? Unless they 'parted ways' for years before his death, but that doesnt line up with what various characters said. I know its a Steven King deal and he lacks a lot of consistency and common sense, so thats where I end up at.

In the wiki it says she was paid for the day Lebay picker her up. He owned her for 21 Years. Explaining how she got in such bad shape. I think they changed the timline a bit for sake of the screen Play and movie script.

@@spaceflight1019 No, it was to see if someone really was interested. Remember, you could "buy a really decent car" for what Arnie paid for Christine.

@@twoeightythreez In 1975 I bought a used 1971 Fury police interceptor in Columbus, Ohio for the princely sum of $600. It had a U-code 375 horse 440 Magnum. It was in way better shape than the Christine car. But... If Arnie had, behind the scenes, done his homework and learned that the Fury only came in gold and white, meaning that it had been repainted, and that it had its original, numbers-matching drivetrain including the dual-quad hi-performance 318, or the Golden Commando 350, then $500 was a screaming deal...assuming that the frame wasn't rotted through.

@@robertmorris8997 Interesting. Since everything I can find about the Fury indicates that the white and gold paint scheme was standard a special order could make the car a one of one. The alternate ending has Arnie making bank after the car pulls six figures at an auction...

Im still amazed by Keith Gordon's transformation from dweeb to stud in the movie, you really don't realize the changes until you remember how the character started. Good acting to be able to slowly reshape the character throughout the movie

I am certain that when I saw Christine at the Cinema, there was a scence when Arnie looked in the mirror and there were two skeketons in the rear view mirror, I have now bought two copies of the movie, one of them a directors cut, but they don't have that scence in them!
