They got their 2nd Grammy for this song! First was their Daft Punk Medly. Then this one. Their third one was for their cover of Jolene by Dolly Parton. She sang with them so she also won a Grammy. I’m not a fan of country music but I’ve put that on repeat a few times. Lol.

Avi’s bass line throughout this song is amazing. I love it so much. Not gonna skip Mitch’s amazing high notes, cause those are badass too. Not one word in this song, yet utterly engaging and awesome. :) You should check out PTX’s covers of “can’t hold us” and “gold”. Vastly different but both super awesome.

Winning a f*** Grammy without singing a single word... After that song every time they released a new song I always thought 'okay what crazy sh*** have you done now to that song?' or 'An Original??? Whose crazy mastermind wrote that song?' and they never stop to amaze me and blow my mind. This piece really shows Avi's operatic training. Besides the obvious parts, listen for how he hits it in that last chord before the end bit. Wow! Gets me every time.

I am a Neo-Classical Composer and Arranger. I am imagining Ben Bram sitting down to write this arrangement while looking at the orchestral score, and thinking, "I have four voices and a beat-boxer\singer. How am I going to translate this classical piece to something better than what the Swingle Singers might have done?" Well, I don't HOW he did it, but the result was definitely worth a Grammy!

When Kirstie smirks when she sings she is doing a side mouth. She said that it’s a bad habit that she wants to get rid of. She used to think that it helped her hit the note, but she realized it didn’t.

xPHILLYSLUGGERx when she was a baby she had a cleft palate. She had surgery but that is what caused her side smile. She had surgery again a couple years ago and that’s why she doesn’t have it as much any more

Kirstie's little smirk is pretty cute. There is actually a vocal coach that wondered if it was something theatrical, or if she really needs to make a little smirk to get certain notes out. Pentatonix Christmas music(especially if it's an original or a piece that they could really take their own) is well worth listening to at any time of the year, even if people are shooting daggers into your back cuz they can hear ya listening to it

When this video first came out I remember thinking they look like mafia body guards guarding Kirstie that could fit in a John Wick movie. This also won them their 2nd Grammy. By the way Jase who is that cutie sneaking out of your bed @2:16 just to chill in the corner?

Kirstie's "side mouth" was something we all loved about her too! 😊 We thought it was cute, like she was! Then we found out it was caused from nerve damage caused during surgery to correct a cleft palate and not only was she self conscious about it, but she'd developed bad technique attempting to compensate for her mouth being pulled to the side. That bad technique was hard on her voice and she was always on vocal rest. She worked on correcting the bad habits she'd formed during the time she did 2 runs in "Kinky Boots" on Broadway and her vocals, which I already loved, became mind blowing! So... that's the story of that deceptively "cute" side mouth smirk Kirstie deals with. I feel bad for thinking it was adorable.. but I didn't know all the details. Doubt I do now! They have said this was the hardest arrangement they've ever done (with "Making Christmas" from a Nightmare Before Christmas coming in hot on its heels at #2). You should check out "Making Christmas"! It's more "Halloween" than "Christmas" in theme and it's a blast!

YES! This is one of my all time favorites of theirs!! Thank you!! I love Avi's part right before he does the really low note, it sounds so choral - like he's singing in an ancient cathedral or something - ugh just so gorgeous. Thanks for another great reaction! You should do one of their "Evolution of" videos (like "Evolution of Michael Jackson"). They have several. Also, their covers of 'Ride' by Twenty One Pilots and 'Gold' by Kiiara are something a little different than what you have been doing up to now. Keep it up!

If you haven't already, you might want to check out their cover of "No" by Meghan Trainer. I love Meghan but you really can't beat their cover. Mitch's attitude definitely adds to the song. And I love watching Avi's use of mic proximity when he does the bass slides. So good.

I think some of their best stuff is Christmas themed. You should really check out "You're a mean one Mr. Grinch" (very recent, Matt is the lead and Scott covers the bass which is awesome), God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman or Rocking Around the Christmas Tree.

Yes, Kirstie's side smile! :D She actually stopped doing it while singing now for the most part. It's not a healthy thing to do for your vocals and I think she was self-conscious about it too. She did bring it back a little in Can You Feel the Love Tonight for example, but it seemed very intentional on her part and more just like a nod to fans, so I think she found a way to compromise :).

hi, love your reaction to Avi & Mitch, made me laugh. My suggestions would be to take a look at Superfruit, which is Scot & Mitch together, especially their take on Rise, its awesome. Kirstie's lopsided smile is because as a child she had some kind of accident that resulted in some nerve damage to her mouth. Still sings great. She has had some kind of work done more recently to reduce that effect. Back then, though, it was involuntary.
