For our May 2022 meeting, Luca Jellinek talked to us about the Austrian-born British-American architect and design theorist Christopher Alexander (1936-2022). He says: “The Nature of Order-hint: it’s not ‘orderly’. Alexander, who passed away in March, was possibly the most influential architectural theoretician (as well as actual architect) you’ve never heard of." He outlined I Alexander's oeuvre and taught us five things guaranteed to make any mainstream architect apoplectic. The talk runs for the first 50 minutes, followed by ten minutes of vigorous questions and comments from the floor (mostly at the expense of brutalist architecture).
