He is a perfect Roddy, he captures the petulance and brilliance. Generally, this adaptation is one of the best I have seen, and the cast is superb across the board.

Best show ever! Even though series 5 has the greenlight, I have separation anxiety already! I hope they will be filming all of Herron’s books. Chung’s delivery of the line “spicy “was delivered to perfection.

Is there a Emmy category for Best Creep? Chung does it so well.

Do you think he could be redeemed by the end? His blackmail attempt in S2 or S3 was too unlikely for me, too disgusting to be joked off, even with the slap. Not everyone who acts like Roddy can be slapped. I hope he gets some self-awareness. Although given the danger at Slough House it'll probably happen shortly before he bleeds to death in a sewer or something equally grim.

So well spoken. Don't know why I'm surprised, but he plays Ho so well.

He's also Australian (did you not catch his accent?) playing a Londoner. Very well too. Then you've got home-counties River being played flawlessly by Jack (a Scot) - but I've read somewhere that Gary Oldman (An actual, *proper*, Londoner) had to be to be coached on how to speak 'Lahndun' again because of the amount of time he spends in the US!

@graememorrison333 That went completely over my head too! I thought he sounded sort of indeterminate Home Counties-ish, but obvious now. His accent in SH just floats by me which means it pretty good. I dumbly always assume the actor is a bit like the character.

@@graememorrison333 I'm Australian and uhh not at first. Don't know if i just found it was a more normal english accent but it's so obvious now. He has one of those accents which is so normal for me to hear I didn't even realise at first it was accented if that makes sense. Like he's no Margot Robbie or Hugh jackman who turn the "ocker" up

Jack Lowden is James Bond. River Cartwright is the kind of agent I'd want on my team. I'd also take Ho as he is very IT literate, his kind is hard to find, e.g. an extremely competent IT geek. He is someone who is very much required in today's high tech world, if you are trying to set up a spy team. Guy seems very competent and Shirley has proven she can kick *ss!

At first I was like "Huh, a smart-ass Asian IT whiz... How original..."☹ Boy was I wrong. Ho is a standout character among the stellar ensemble cast and Christopher is doing an amazing job!

Roddy Ho is the funniest character in the books imo, but he's not as geeky and deluded in the series.

Yes, there's a lot more self-absorbed somewhere-on-the-spectrum internal dialogue in the books.

Christopher Chung is a great actor. HIs character is a scum-bag technocrat, who is not like the actor at all. That' what the whole fun of the series is about.

His character is annoying as hell! Gen Z petulance, arrogance and entitlement personified. I forget he’s a real character. Brilliant acting ‘Roddy Ho’

Without any doubt, Slow Horses 'was' the only thing on TV worth watching, primarily because it does not have the obvious objective of simply being a vehicle to promote Woke. Yes it is played for laughs sometimes and no way would a person like Jackson Lamb be put in charge of an MI5 unit such as Slough House which is considered with such contempt by those at HQ. Also, it is for entertainment purposes so even once working as very lowly RAF SAC Photographer who came across service personnel and government intelligence people plus for the five years I was in the RAF I learnt, trained with and even taught such people doing course at RAF Brampton and Cosford - I am not expecting real world situations. BUT after watching the very last episode of Season 3, being unbelieving bad and so woke, pure fantasy and highly ridiculous shoot-out where a crew of rejects out shoot, out punch and kill a large number of about 15 MI5 'SAS' soldiers, who are even tougher, more skilled and deadly than normal SAS soldiers - was just BEYOND BELIEF. We had a 'little girl' take on and despatch in hand-to-hand combat and shooting hardened soldiers who I can assure you practise every day their skills to kill people as quickly as possible. The whole last 15 minutes was joust a farce and it was like watching a bunch of young men having ZERO military skills and experiences be put in such uniforms and given guns and told to go in and kill the Slow Horses team plus two other MI5 operatives. An absolute joke and totally ruined the immense enjoyment of having something at last on TV to watch and not have to 'tut' and say "here we go again' and switch off". I expect that when Slow Horse first came out, it slipped under the radar at APPLE Plus but not surprising being so good, got the viewing figures it deserved and then the 'big woke wigs' at Apple became interested and wanted to be involved, and thus is why we had the f****** crap the last episode of Season 3 gave us. I know there is a fourth season coming but just as with the very good American House of cards with Kevin Spacey as Francis Underwood that when he was got rid of and Robin Wright took over, watched only ten minutes and turned off, I doubt I will watch the fourth season of Slow Horses.

I don't trust people who use the term 'woke' unironically.

I very much suspect and have found that people who would use a word such as 'unironically' which, as you did in a context that was wrong, tend to be quite pretentious and often unable to argue, evaluate and give valid examples to prove their point.

The series is an adaptation of a series of novels, and faithful one. So your complaint is better directed to the author rather than media executives. And your description of the soldiers is inaccurate, they are a private security firm's employees, referred to even by a character in the show as weekend warriors. And if you are a right-wing antiwoke type, I definitely recommend that you don't read the books - the Jackson Lamb character refers to taking a "Donald" whenever using the bathroom. Although to be fair I think the author hates all politicians, and Trump was the most famous politician when the author was writing some of the books.

Do you have the same reaction to every Taken movie, etc? Of course it’s not realistic, but that doesn’t make it “woke.” I think you have a problem with women….
