*FYI if you are new to my channel. this channel isnt 100% dedicated torward I go around camera shops and explain everything I do this like once or twice every year or so due to time constraints.
If your looking for the prized 35mm film camera in Tokyo, this might be it.
Its been a while since I came back on talking about camera shops and some of you have been waiting for it, this time around I went to Chuko Camera Box Shop in Downtown Shinjuku it is located on the west exit of Shinjuku Station and its 10min walk, you keep walking ignoring Yodobashi Camera and once you hit a big road turn left and keep walking and you will find a store sign saying the shop name and it is located on the B1F
Like I said they are focused on 35mm film cameras not many Medium Format but if your into 35mm this is a great location and if you have time I HIGHLY suggest looking through the crates you might find something worth interesting like searching through a pirate chest from Pirates of the Carribean.

Great video Ryo! Certainly that store is now in my to visit list for next time I go to Japan. So awesome they have such amount of cameras in good state. Crazy that I might have passed by it last year when I walked all over Shinjuku... Your comments on Nikon F3 have convinced me of getting it instead of the Fm2. That is if it doesn't require batteries for working... does it? Cheers!

Thanks unfortunately the Nikon F3 needs batteries to operate the cameras before Nikon F3 (FM2/F2) don't require batteries if I'm right. It's actually a great location to find the perfect camera if you have spare time since it will take a while to get accustomed to the amount of cameras that are available... I'm kinda surprised you didn't find it while in Shinjuku 😂

This is a place I always visit when I come down to Tokyo, I love the vibe in there. I bought a Konica III there last year. The two old guys at the counter were very friendly, and spoke enough English to get by. I was also able to negotiate the price down a bit since they are a little on the high end. The last time I was there, early this year there were several foreign tourists so it seems the secret is out about the Box in the Basement. Thanks for the video, I saw a few interesting old TLRs.

Congrats on getting a Konica III yup the two old fellow was good mood when I asked if I can shoot video love it when ppl give me valuable opportunity to shoot photos/videos it's just feels good with the community knowing or not knowing various spots in Tokyo :) I didn't know that haggling works hehe I would love to try sometime if I have the chance. TLRs yup they had quite a bunch

Very interesting shop and such a great explanation from you Ryo-San. Definitely gonna stop by here, looks fun and adventurous. Just wondering what is the price range of the F3 there?
@RM.TokyoPhotographer

Your welcome thanks for commenting Nikon F3 is roughly 40,000yen if I'm right 250-300$usd? The price doubled compared to 4 years ago when I purchased mine for 130$usd

Very nice video and definitely a very cool shop. Wonderful that classic camera shops manage to survive in Tokyo. Here in Germany we used to have 2 or 3 shops like this (usually not so crazily cramped of course) in every major city. For the most part eBay killed them off, at least as a physical store. It‘s a shame, but I guess we voted with our pocketbooks.

It's a shame to hear about Germany that might be a reason why many foreigner come here want that nostalgic time as if we slipped back in time. I thought it's kinda my duty to at least show ppl there are stores around Tokyo and by advocating they will survive longer :) Hope I could visit Germany

I saw the Visa/Mastercard stickers. So they accept credit card payments? Thank you so much for this video. Will definitely visit when I come back.

I'm actually on a trip haha can't be exactly sure I will come back soon but in most cases camera in Japan tend to use Visa in most cases than Mastercard but it's highly likely you can use credit card I ll come back to you when I come back for confirmation and ppl in Japan don't like to pay large amounts in cash 😂

Hi! Can you tell me what the price range in Japanese yen is for cameras like the Canon AE-1 in this store (or similar ones)? Unfortunately, I can't read the price tags in the video. thanks for the video!

It's roughly 130$-250$ the price similar to Nikon F3 has doubled over the course of the 5year period. If your lucky you might be able to grab the A-1
