A quick Beginner's Guide that tells you all you need to know and doesn't waste your time! Chun Li is a Powerful Spacing Character with Great Normals and Good Footsies! This tutorial will cover her Normals, Special Moves, Super, and Ultras. Plus, some Bread and Butter combos to get you started!
BUTTON TRANSLATION
Attacks
LK: light kick
MK: medium kick
HK: heavy kick
LP: light punch
MP: medium punch
HP: heavy punch
PP/KK: Ex Attacks
Directions:
f - forward
b - back
u - up
d - down
qcf - quater-circle forward
qcb - quarter-circle back
hcb - half circle back
hcf - half circle forward
FC - full cirlce
f, qcf - dragon punch
FADC - Focus Attack Dash Cancel

I main Chun Li but seeing these combos with hosenka (her ultra move) at the end makes me wonder, how does he/she preform it so quickly while it takes me like 4 or 5 seconds to properly do the right combination on my controller? Please I would like to know

How do you guys combo things into Spinning Bird Kick? It takes me an extremely long times (about 2 seconds if not 3) to make it come out, so I can never use it in combos. Is it possible to buffer it even though the moves before it release the charge? Am I missing something?

Why is it that sometimes when I try the air to air hp to toe stomps it whiffs sometimes? Also I can only seem to do df lk to toe stomps in the corner, do you have to dash to do it mid screen?

I love Chun Li,and I think her legs are beautiful.I always play as her but whenever I try to do her Ultra on pc in Street Fighter 4 and in Super Street Fighter 4 on ps3 I always end up doing her Super.I think I've only done her Ultra like two or three times on pc and like once or twice on ps3.I've always been curious regarding crouching high kick:How does a person manage to hold their body in the air and kick with both legs while leaning on one arm sideways?That would be almost impossible to do considering you're trying to attack someone whilst doing so.

Noob question: In order to activate Chun-Li's Super and Ultra II Combo while crouching must you keep holding Down when pressing *Forward at the end of the Back (charge) -> Forward, Back, *Forward + Kick/ 3xKick command?

this combo is just not working for some reason. jHP>HP - cHP - HK(x5) or MK (x5) ......... the crouching HP always hits twice no matter how fast I try to get in the kicks before the second crouching punch.. its frustrating coz this should be a straight forward combo but just not happening at all :/ any advice?

(Not watched full video) I miss the old SF2 Chun-Li the light kick flip-back kicks, the jump from the sceen edge and I can't even get the freaking throws to work like I used too, miss the old times, sadface...

+TrueUnderDawgGaming what do you mean by safe on block and not safe on block? do mean the move can be blocked or it can be counter???

+micpango "Safe on block" means that if your opponent blocks it, under most circumstances he can't get a free attack afterwards. If it's not safe on block, you can get punished from being blocked.

Elias Johansson The way I do it, I first plink cr.hp with mk and hit the lk right after(rolling the hand in) and then piano the kicks back up from lk to hk(rolling the hand out), adding up the five inputs required for the legs and finishing with the right button. Might not be the best way, but it works for me. Some people just slide their fingers over the kicks but that feels too weird for me particularly.

How is this for beginners? I'm lucky if my moves come out. this chun-li is jumping around doing combos at will. I really hate charge characters. Especially guile and Vega. Doing their Ultras is a miracle!

Just hold Down while jumping and performing her EX Hyakuretsukyaku. That will be the proper time for charging so just press Up and any kick after the Hyakuretsukyaku and Spinning Bird Kick will come out ;)

Darius Starks hosenka I think Quarter circle X2 (or a z motion) and any kick and Kikoken is charge left (or down left) for 1.6 seconds, then press right and a punch button

Thanks for the video, definitely helpful. One criticism: as a beginner, the input notation for moves is a bit confusing. "b+MK>MK>d, u+MK" for Kintekishu is not similar to how the commands list from in-game looks, and is harder to read and understand.

As in which is better? I'd say Tekken, but only because it's not absurdly difficult to learn. Others would say SF, and it really depends on whether you like 2D or 3D fighters. I play Tekken, Soul Calibur, and Guilty Gear the most, with DOA being one I play a little bit, then every once in a blue moon I'll play MK or Smash.
