Back in `1978, when the movie was set, things were like this. Honestly some places were rough and honestly shit got real. people have john wayne gacy, ted bundy, etc. these people were crazy.....but we acted like everything was normal. Things were very different back then. Trust me people were more willing to risk shit. "oh a serial killer is on the loose? oh that's nice, walk to the bus and get to school, if you don't get that home work done there's gonna be a killing in this house". My grandmothers was the exact same way my dad even laughed and agreed when I told him about that. Trust me those parents did not give a shit. Older generations grew up during ww2 and their kids grew up with a nuke over head as a reality. A man grabbing up little kids was the least of their worries.
@indiefairy09 Жыл бұрын
RIGHT?! I have way older parents even tho I’m a millennial and the way my mom and grandma were way more hands off than my other friends! Grandma would literally kick us out the house during the summer and be like don’t come back until the street lights come on! She knew where we were generally but overall it was like y’all will survive. My grandma grew up through the Great Depression, WW2 and segregation! And grandpa was born during WW1 so yea they didn’t coddle us. It def gave me more independence at 11/12!

I shared this on nicksaysboo's reaction to this, but I wanted to share it here too. I love it that you, he and Zzavid released these all together. You're a comfort channel for me, so when my other comfort channels join you, my happiness meter is pegged 🥰 There's one very cool, specific detail they did with this movie - Finney and Gwen's dad works at Rocky Flats. People who grew up in Colorado know what that means (and the director grew up in Westminster, CO), but I wanna share for others that don't. Rocky Flats was a weapons-grade plutonium plant from 1952 to 1992, when it was shut down over the ridiculous amounts of safety violations. As in, criminal investigations and prosecutions by the EPA, FBI and DOJ. It was so bad that in the plant, they had rooms of plutonium barrels that were leaking so much that the concrete floor was spongey. But the worst was that it leaked plutonium and cancer-causing chemicals into the groundwater and air (from fires they tried to cover up), all the way into surrounding towns. For decades. It became a Superfund Site after they shut it down, with billions spent over 15 years to clean it up. The site where the plant is located is still toxic and off-limits, but there's a huge buffer zone around it that's a wildlife refuge now. So, it adds a layer to the ominous feel of the movie. It wasn't just the alcoholic drinking that made their dad toxic. He was _literally_ toxic. He's probably not living too long after the movie ends. It also gives a nod to the radioactive superpower trope, with four of its characters having some form of psychic abilities (Gwen, Finney, their mom and I'm assuming The Grabber).

The brother of the Grabber, Max I think, the actor who plays him James Ransone, he's in Sinsiter 1&2 he's Deputy So&So as well as Adult Eddie Kaspbrak in IT Chapter 2. Also, if your wondering why this movie kinda felt a bit like a serial killer IT , its due to this being a short story by Joe Hill, also known As Joseph King aka Stephen King's son.

Great reaction video. Your comments and reactions made me laugh. This film was the best horror, suspense film I have seen in quite some time. I like how they didn't give Ethan Hawke's character The Grabber any backstory so you wonder why he did what he did. I imagine he was abused by his father in the same basement and his name was Johnny because he called Finny "Johnny" when he first put Finny in the basement. The young actors in this brilliant film were the standouts. Mason Thames who plays Finney reminds of of a combination of a young Tom Holland, a young Heath Ledger and a young River Phoenix. Thames has the good looks, stoic charm and acting skills that will take him places in the future. Madeleine Mcgraw who plays Gwen reminds me of a young Angelina Jolie with her combination of grace, strength and dramatic acting skills that will take her places in the future. I wish them both much happiness and success.

I’m going around everywhere telling people this is actually inspired on a real life case!!!! The kid (finney, who had a diff name irl) did survive and escape, but after YEARS of captivity and abuse :( he also saved another kid they had kidnapped. Its a really tragic story just bc as always the justice system sucks and most the people involved didn’t get a punishment, and the main killer almost didn’t. There’s a documentary series of like the 80s (or 70s?) that won the emmys. Its super sad to read on the case, but I like that the film focuses on the kids and their revenge rather than the killer. Also its not on this film is just kinda implied, but the killer here is a pedophile, not an organ trafficker. So he def wants to abuse them as he kills them, but we never (thank god) see that nor was he able with Finney.
