I had the pleasure of introducing Connie Smith on stage when the Grand Ole Opry brought performers to Detroit's Cobo Arena back in the late 60's. I was a DJ for WEXL Radio. It's the same concert that Connie's husband mentions in the PBS Country Music documentary because much of the audience was surprised to see Charlie Pride was black! He told the audience "I may be black on the outside but I'm Country on the inside." They welcomed him with a huge applause.

I used to live in Indianapolis and would travel to the Queen City on weekends. I actually lived there about two years and I still miss it. This song is one of my favorites.

I heard this song on the radio when it first came out and loved it. It took me a couple decades before I found it on a CD. It brought tears to my eyes when I heard it again and this song still moves me. It's one of my 100 all-time favorite songs.

Louisville. Also: Mason-“Dixie” Line…actually Mason-Dixon Line. Seems not many are very literate these days. Sort of ruins a lot of good posts.

That sounds as hillbilly as hell. As a trucker who ran all over this great country, i did hear it pronounced that way a few times, but not a majority by a long shot.Cincinatti sounds mich prettier and educated.

@sheltv1004 жыл бұрын
If you crossed that line prior to 1964, you would not be allowed in the same vehicle or train car with a POC.
@edwinclements81123 жыл бұрын
The actual extension of the Mason Dixon line would wind up somewhere near Dayton.
@jamesbrent18092 жыл бұрын
It's a strange line. A friend claimed her summer home near Cape May NJ was south of it. I thought that was crazy until looking at a map. Sure enough, extend the line directly east and she's correct.
