Those were the sobs of all the hurt & anger towards all those that bullied her & looked down on her. Shaoshang has had to put on a brave front and use her wits from the time her parents left her to go to battle. She had that false bravado that nothing anyone did to her would hurt her. I’m glad she let her guard down with Li Buyi but it would have been better had she told him what happened to her. She’s just so used to fighting her own battles.😢😢 My heart ached for her!

In this instance, her instincts were correct. If she had told him that night, those girls and their families would have suffered worse fates on the eve of the Empress' birthday celebration. She knew how he would react, and we saw the results of it. I can't imagine what he would have done if she had told him right then and there. Besides, she was a vengeful person and liked to plot her revenge which she doled out the day after the celebration.

He was the problem here lol. He hide so many things to her but expecting her to tell everything. She has hard time to trust people. In the end to gain her trust, he use his power in the name of the emperor, and the empress questioning her in unpleasantly, why did she not tell whn she got trouble, why didnt share ? Made her feel guilty.
