At 9:15 there’s another problem with the gun, and it’s the fact that the weapon should be considered evidence and carefully bagged. He puts it in his boot which tells you he either isn’t a sheriff or isn’t planning on investigating (extremely sketchy).

However, Lee Ermey (the actor who played the sherrif) was an ex-staff sergeant in the marines so regardless of appearance he could probably kick somebodies ass who isn't a semi-decent fighter/brawler. I know its irrelevant for the character he's playing but it's just a point out to always be cautious as you don't know who you're dealing with.

This is one of those horror movies where you say to yourself “Oh-that can really happen”. It’s why it’s one of my favorite horror movies.

I stumbled across these videos and can’t stop watching.

It’s also made all the more sad because obviously the boyfriend was going to propose to her but she was also strongly hinted at as being pregnant. In the conversation among the group before the hitchhiker shows up they offer her beer and pot and she refused stating she’s nauseous, they ask if she’s doing ok because she’s nauseous, she says she is fine, they ask if it’s something she ate or drank, one of the others points out she barely ate anything and only drank bottled water on their trip. All of this strongly points to her knowing she’s pregnant and taking measures to protect the fetus growing inside her.

Fun fact: Gunnar Hansen, the guy who played leatherface, frequently found himself having to slow way down while running after the other cast members because, even though he was carrying a real chainsaw and wearing giant boots with a leather face mask, he was running much faster than everyone else. Edit: This was in the original 1974 movie, not the specific remake addressed in this video. Sorry for any confusion.

These videos are great! Even if they did not pick up the hitchhiker I still think they would have ended up being harassed by that crazy cop at some point. This is one of the better horror remakes I remember feeling stressed out throughout the movie and even though Id seen the original several times this kept me on the edge of my seat. The "prequel" makes the isolation more understandable. Literally everybody left town, except for a cop that dude kills. Every single person in that town, minus the occasional gas station customer, is part of the clan.

I just noticed how much inspiration Dead By Daylight got from this movie, with the hooks, and hiding in the lockers, that's pretty cool.

This was actually the first movie I saw with Sergeant R. Lee Ermey. Honestly , his character creeped me out more than any other in the movie. The dialogue he uses while getting the dead body is so disturbing.He was an amazing actor and I have seen his other films since then. However, this character still freaks me out even as an adult!
