Watching this movie was frustrating because the couple had like negative survival instincts.

You have to try to stay calm so you could be able look around and take everything in. You have to check all the windows and doors, check the fuse box, check your food supply, check your choices for possible weapons to defend yourself. Maybe leave some lights on while you hide out of view possibly by a window to keep an eye out or possible exit...stuff like that

Imagine you're in a creepy house in the middle of nowhere, creepy stuff is happening, and your wife says there's a home intruder and is obviously panicked. Not immediately going on high alert is ABSURD. Like okay ghosts and monsters and demons aren't real but human home intruders ARE a real thing that can happen. And he just brushes it off as absurd.

Maybe have the waitress drive you to the next town over instead. If she won't then call an Uber for the next town over.
