I actually rewatched the 2007 movie recently and was surprised by how most of the effects, outside of the robots in action, are mostly practical. The Bumblebee model used for when he’s taken by Sector 7 looks pretty good too. Given how CGI heavy this franchise would become, as well as the rest of Hollywood’s major blockbusters, it was actually a breathe of fresh air.

I agree that Bumblebee is easily the best of the live-action movies. Charlie and Bee were so adorable together and I did get the feels when they had to part ways. What did you expect from a movie about robots fighting? The 1986 animated movie gave us an annoying human kid that we were probably supposed to identify, an annoying teen robot that we were supposed to cheer for, an annoying kid-like robot that spoke in rhymes that we were probably supposed to like, some really cheesy bits, a few moderately emotional bits, and a fair bit of robots not fighting. Oh, it also had robots fighting, where you could actually tell what was happening and who was who, with epic battles at the beginning and the end, and plenty of smaller conflicts in between, a solid soundtrack, a stellar voice cast...

Having recently watched All 5 Bayformers Films (Well rewatched in the case of the First 2), this is where I'd Rank them from Favourite to Least Favourite: 1. Transformers: A lot of the Problems the Sequels have are here, but fortunately at a Minimum. The Story actually feels more restrained and is honestly pretty fun. Wish they could've shown some more of the Transformers themselves before the Final Battle. 2. Transformers: Dark Of The Moon: Probably My Favourite of the Sequels. The Plot of bringing Cybertron to Earth and the Deceptions using Human Collaborators was interesting. It also has some of the best Action of the Series. However the Humour is cringeworthy and the Film is 20-30 Minutes too long. 3. Transformers: Age Of Extinction: I liked a lot of the new ideas they brought in (Man-Made Transformers, a Neutral Cybertronian Bounty Hunter etc...). I also enjoyed seeing the Dinobots, underused as they were. Once again, too long, I didn't like how the Final Act of the Film moved to China randomly just so they could pander to the Country for Box Office Profit, and Optimus wanting to kill humans didn't sit right with me (at least his brutality in this one is understandable). It feels like 2-3 Movies merged into One. Oh yeah, and it also features probably the Worst Joke in the Series (you know which one I mean). 4. Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen: I do have some nostalgia for it at least, even if it hasn't aged well on rewatch. Has the Best Score of the Series. 5. Transformers: The Last Knight: It would be easier to list the things that I liked (but I won't) and FOR GOD SAKES PICK AN ASPECT RATIO AND STICK WITH IT!

Sure, it would probably go against the idea behind this series, but I wouldn't blame you for doing it in the slightest.

Oddly enough, Skids and Mudflap were ONLY supposed to be in Dark of the Moon JUST to get killed off by Sentinel Prime. He was going to kill them along with Ironhide in his betrayal scene. It's depicted in the novelization and comic adaptation. Also, the reason the 5th movie has changing screen sizes is because they filmed different shots/scenes with IMAX cameras.

If there's one objectively positive thing I can say about the films, it is the soundtrack composed by Steve Jablonsky. Pieces like Arrival to Earth and Forest Battle showcase that he is capable of making scores that can be beautiful and/or epic. It's a shame that his work has to be associated with schlocky films.

As a super black woman I liked Skidz and Mudflap. Now I may be a little biased because those were my favorite cars. Even bought the car based on them. I didn’t have a problem with the way they sexualized Meghan Fox in the first movie because she was so smart. I almost didn’t notice it. It was the second movie where it got in the way for me. The biggest issue for me in these movies is that when they fought I couldn’t tell one from the other. Also the killed Ironhide.

Fun (or not so fun, depending on how you roll) fact: The success of the first movie lead to Hasbro hiring a veteran animator from Cartoon Network to reboot another franchise to surprising (maybe too much) success… That reboot was My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Didn’t do well? It may not have made over $1 billion, but it was a general box office success; a box office result of $438 million on production budget of $102-$135 million is nothing to scoff at. And it was still much more favourable with critics than the other movies, not to mention obviously being successful enough for the studio to green-light a sequel. Saying it “didn’t do well” doesn’t sound right to me.

Wished All About Steve won Worst Picture of 2009. It killed Sandra Bullock's career because the same year she did the Blind Side, which helped her win an Oscar that same year. Also whoever thought Land of the Lost which won worst Remake thought that was worst than Revenge of the Fallen were completely wrong.

The Last Airbender had a really troubled production. They burnt out the entire budget after filming in Greenland, and thus, had to film in shipping yards, and a lot of crucial scenes were removed due to run time issues, forcing Katara's actress to narrate over many scenes in order to fill in the gaps, and everyone had a race swap due to the studio wanting a white actor to play Katara, and an Indian actor to play Zuko, which made many fans upset, and for good reason. There were times the film did try to feel like the original show, but it was filled to the brim with crap that either didn't translate from the cartoon or, completely missed the point of several scenes, such as the prison scene in the middle of the movie.

You know, regarding the twins, it might have been worth mentioning that Tom Kenny and Reno Wilson improved their dialogue and mannerisms, intending to spoof white men pretending to be black. So Bay doesn’t deserve all the blame for how they turned out. In fact, I feel Bay shouldn’t be held solely accountable for these movies. Yes, he was director and had ultimate say, but he wasn’t writer. When you have a lacklustre script, there’s only so much a director can do. I’m not saying Michael Bay is a great director (he isn’t), but he’s far from the worst.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but a director is one of the few people that can order rewrites, as long as the producers allow it and it doesn't go over budget. He could have ordered reshoots, re-edits... Michael Bay had it all.
