I appreciate that opening about calling out the Razzies for bullying children. They were especially unfair to Maddie Ziegler for Music. She didn’t even want to do the film in the first place.

100% on you with the opening about The Razzies I'm a member and I was very vocal about how terrible of an idea that was! They're defense as well on the ballot was "well there wasn't much actresses" yet they completely snubbed stuff like Rob Zombie's The Munsters or hell, even the usual Tyler Perry as Madea for Madea Homecoming (unfunny as that always was) is not there and films that were nominated in other spots like Megan Fox in Good Mourning and the 365 Day Sequels performances. The fact they ignored actual terrible performances for a 12 year old is quite baffling. I'm thankful the Razzies made the right move and removed it. Hopefully the future will be better because between this and the Bruce Willis situation last year, they're really in deep water.

Here's a nice joke you can use for the revisit to "Hillary's America" He keeps saying he'll tell "the secret history" of the Democrat Party, but the entire movie is basically common knowledge history that everyone already knows. You can use that minor gag from Avatar: The last airbender season 3, episode 6, where Zuko confronts his uncle with similar words "I found the secret history. Which by the way, should be renamed "the history most people already know"'

There are a lot of controversial Razzie nominations. Some of them aren't their fault. When they nominated Shelley Duvall for Worst Actress for her performance in The Shining they didn't know that Stanley Kubrick was torturing her behind the scenes. But not bullying kids should be the bare minimum.

I saw a few comments like that. There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism, but the razzies are not and have never pretended to be legitimate critics. The razzies are a farcical award show that makes fun of bad movies and Hollywood as a whole, and while that can be funny, it should really be limited to adults who are old enough to understand that.

2:30 It's the same thing with Mommie Dearest The actress playing the younger version of Christina Crawford did great but they nominated her anyway just because the movie itself was terrible! Also Parker's performance in Dumbo might've been due more to Burton's direction than her talent at the time. Burton has admitted he did not have fun working on that movie and it might have affected how he was guiding the actors which, in turn, might've affected their acting, especially the younger and more inexperienced they were like Parker.

In the past when I said there's a better BDSM love story than 50 Shades, I meant it, and I still do, but if I want a better love story between a guy who runs a company falling for a young woman who basically becomes an intern at Said company, I highly recommend Lore Olympus over 50 Shades anyday, it's pretty much a clever contemporary retelling of the mythological romance between Hades and Persephone, and all the bumps along the way, including Hades having massive PTSD over having been eaten alive by his dad Kronos, Zeus being the God of one-night stands that he is, or even Demeter and her actions towards her daughter making Lady Tremaine and Mother Gothel look like Mother Teresa. And let me just say, I'm not looking forward to you having to talk about that batshit insane D'Souza guy again, especially if you have to talk about his entire filmography (including his latest mess "2000 Mules", which is so bad it was fact-checked by everyone, not even Fox News wants to talk about it since it'll add more fuel to the fire of that lawsuit Dominion is pushing through

The Razzies were a bad joke since 1981. They’re sense of humor is too mean-spirited and at times in poor taste. Like how they made a category just for the movies Bruce Willis starred in around the time he was diagnosed with aphasia. Then there’s the fact they seem to have a hatred towards Sylvester Stallone and their joke of Tyler Perry as Madea for worst actress got tiring. Also, they gave Joker a nomination while the universally hated Loqueesha somehow got off Scot-free. Let that last part sink in for a moment.

I very much disagree in regards to saying Fant4stic is worse than 50 Shades just because the latter is more competently made. That's like saying that a professional hitman is a better person than the barista who takes forever to bring you your coffee. Dominic Noble has gone into better detail about this, but the Fifty Shades franchise depicts an abusive relationship that people are supposed to root for, which can be very harmful to people in the real world who don't know any better.
@fermintenava5911

Well, the Razzies are supposed to be about bad film-making, not about the moral value of the movies. And the 50-Shades-movies are only bad because the books they are based on are bad as well. The only ones deserving a Razzie for that would be the studios (since they gave James full creative freedom and greenlit this shit) or the screenwriter (which happens to be EL James' husband).

I feel like Fant4stic fails on pretty much every technical level of filmmaking while 50 Shades at least had some people behind it that did good work (production design, costuming, cinematography, directing and score) and the actors did a decent job with what they were given, the script and story was the worst part but it at least feels like a complete story (Fant4stic can't claim the same). Movies are made by an army of people and it is possible for a movie to be bad but have competent people behind it. 50 Shades had a lot of competent people whose effort made it a lot better than the story deserved. The morality is not the most relevant issue when it comes to whether it was a competent film. Fant4stic had glaring issues with a lot more aspects (costuming, cinematography, special effects, directing, editing, and narrative structure) and most importantly failed to tell a story that was decent and had a lot of obvious technical issues that made it pretty unwatchable. All that said the 50 Shades movies aren't good, they just clear the very low bar of being better than Fant4stic. I liked Dominic Noble's review of the series and Folding Ideas also has an excellent critique ripping apart both the films and the books.

The Stinkers Bad Movie Awards need to be brought back. The Razzies wouldn't be a bunch of bullies and wouldn't take easy targets all the time if they didn't have a monopoly on bad movie awards like they do nowadays.

It's not a great sign when possibly the best recent incarnation of Reed Richards is the one that had maybe two minutes of screen time before being killed off.

"There's nothing but boobs for as far as the eye can see!" That line cracked me up 🤣! It's right up there with "Everybody got AIDS and shit!" That being the case, I think they could be in Denmark - the Danish are very permissive of public nudity, probably more than the French!

"Boobs in Boobland!". Ugh! Whoever wrote that line needs to have their head examined. Yes, I know EL James' husband was the screenwriter for Darker and Freed.

Whilst I like the concept of the razzies I think they need to be more aware. Children should never be blamed for bad performances, they are cast by, directed by, acting alongside and edited by other people and it is up to the adults to make the right decisions in these areas. Also thank you for reviewing these, I've never watched them, never really wanted to and now I don't need to!

I appreciate your criticism of the razzies. And since we're on the topic, could you do Music even though it didn't win Worst Picture? That movie is dangerous.

Funny you mention the Firestarter controversy, and yet didn't bring up why the HELL was Tom Hanks nominated for roles he wasn't even bad in? Hanks was the best thing about that crummy-ass Pinocchio remake as Geppetto and was excellent as Col Parker in Elvis. Dude really played up how sleezy and manipulative the man was in real-life! Why the fuck did Hanks get a Razzie nom for that?

I'm not sure the voters even watch the movies. I think they just go off the trailers and whatever's popular to hate that year.

I didn't see Elvis, but Hanks's accent in the trailers was awful. I didn't think he could do worse than his voice in Catch Me If You Can, but I was wrong.

Just when I thought I found every reason to dislike Christian Grey, you go ahead and point out that they only knew each other for 3 months before getting hitched. It's better than Romeo & Juliet, but that isn't a high bar.

There needs to be evil forces constantly threatening to tear them apart. If there weren't, they would actually need to talk to one another; and if that happened, everybody involved - the two of them, the supporting characters, and the audience - would realize they're a horrible couple and they probably shouldn't have gotten married in the first place.

I agree 100% that Hoechlin is the best Superman after Reeve. Give HIM the next theatrical Superman role. Tangent: Sephiroth has been officially voiced by 2 of my favorite actors to play Superman (including Hoechlin.) I long thought that was an interesting bit of casting.
