Personified the pain from the past mental health institutions I went through, making me understand the thoughts all the better. I've been prescribed a medication and I've been making sure I take it but it can't stop those thoughts from creeping up. This is a neat, eerie song about the mental institutions and how backwards they are but it can also be in seen the mental roller coaster inside us when we're were lying to ourselves in trying to keep our sense of stability when in reality we're cracking at the baseline. Great addition for this particular month, three parts chilling, 2 parts informational and 5 parts relatable. I love the rhythm in this one how it goes between music box and instrumental throughout it and then crashes into the bridge which literally descends with both lyrics and instruments then takes a quick turn down the stairwell to the foyer. Love it.

I tried living by my own expectations and the pressure from school and from my traumas got me to attempt overdosing. I try to please others too much and my faults seem to invade my mind like a disease. I have good friends and family but the past haunts me and my mind is never quiet. I was sent to a mental hospital and when I got out my mom got me a therapist and I was put on medication. I have been getting better since. Your music has helped me a lot thank you Citizen Solider!

Dude, the eerie undertone at "we know your insecurities" is one of the creepiest moments I've heard in a song and I effing love it!

I know this song was mainly about the music industry, but holy crap it perfectly represents addiction. The kind of inviting, almost fun sounding, but not quite happy tone of the actual melody, which gives you this uneasy, creepy feeling. When you pay attention to the lyrics, you realize how terrifying it really is. Exactly like addiction, which at first when you start, it seems fun and inviting even though you know its wrong and feel uneasy about it, but when you look closer, its terrible. “Rather die than ask for help” and “we know your insecurities” kind if representing the thoughts you have around a relapse when the thoughts in your head get too loud, hitting where it knows you’re vulnerable and convincing you not to ask for help. “Chasing nightmares dressed like dreams” (the addiction tempting you, looking appealing), a systematic “disease that feeds on insecurities” (itll keep you trapped in your addiction by telling you you aren’t enough and making you insecure). Plus, the “rehab recover relapse repeat” section gets to me every time. Even though it may not have been the intended effect, ive never heard a song that more accurately describes addiction. Perfect song, love it

One of my top favorites from the album! Man, I don’t know what else to say besides this song is EPIC!! I can also imagine a music video where the band members dress in all black (maybe even like ringleaders if you want to go ‘psycho circus’ vibes) with a ‘Welcome to the Madhouse’ old circus-style arch and sign, and the video switches between them, black and white illusions + mirrors, and random people in their own ‘madhouse’ (i.e. writing self-destructive messages on the walls, crying, other versions of losing your mind, etc) but each of those pan out from a picture of each person - maybe even of a happy moment - to signify that we can lose ourselves in our minds and still pretend to be okay. …I’m a visual person and this song gives me delightfully creepy, edgy rock vibes! Every second of this song from start to finish is hardcore perfection!🔥

This song is bold, we have lost so many great musicians over the years but the music industry doesn't care about the musicians as long as they get paid even if it's at the expense of the artists mental health. I think this needs to be brought to light more and a balance should exist to still have the artists do what they love but not become so burnt out and a slave to the record labels. While we all love and appreciate good music , it should never be at the expense of someone's mental health , bands should be given more breaks and time with their families or at least have a better understanding that they really are sacrificing so much including their sanity when they sign that record contract. Great job with this song it makes me think of all the great musicians we have lost due to the music industry using them to make a dollar.
