I feel like most electronics are obsolete after 7 months and companies need to keep improving. Same with cars and phones etc. Now that it's nice out just try to enjoy your bike best you can.!! Positive thinking. Or, you could sell your current model, which is basically brand new. Put it towards the next model.

All good stuff, Citizen. The second charger and seatpost are thoughtful additions by Wired. One other point about battery combiners is that they also work even if the batteries are at different charge levels. It will just use the battery with the most voltage until it drops to the same charge level as the other battery, and then it will draw from both batteries.
@randalgoat
@randalgoat Ай бұрын
Thanks, was wondering about that! Was also wondering if the bike can run off of just the rear battery, the main battery not installed. And for that matter, if you could have the rear battery in its dock but not all the way seated. As a side note, for those of us that want a bicycle/motorcyle for riding in street traffic, this bike has the acceleration and top speed to be safe in traffic, but if you're talking 50-75 or more miles running at 30-40mph, the range test I saw at higher speeds indicated that it'd take TWICE as much battery power to go 75 miles. It's just a matter of time that this new hybrid bike/motorcycle will start appearing. Bikes like the Cruiser could conceivably have a second 20ah battery mount on the TOPSIDE of the main battery!

@randalgoat Yes, you could run it on just the rear battery. But since that pack is 15ah, it's not going to be happy trying to run the 48 amp controller at full power. Even the front 20ah battery will have significant voltage drop under load while trying to supply full power by itself. The combined 35ah of the batteries is the way to use the bike. That will let the batteries live a longer life and supply better performance while you ride. I think a realistic range estimate for this bike is 50-55 miles at a steady 35mph.
@randalgoat
@randalgoat Ай бұрын
@@jimmyjames8736 Hmmmmm.... please elaborate on why running both batteries at once will help to reduce the voltage drop under load. Would you get the same performance if you were using just 1 battery, but a 35ah battery-? Yes, I've heard that sharing the load btw 2 batteries help keep it running cooler and has less wear on the battery, but you're saying it also makes it a stronger performer (greater acceleration and top speed)-? Also, do you have insights on where the performance gains for acceleration and top speed come from? Apparently, WF got better performance simply by using a 45amp controller instead of the original 40amp. And I heard somebody mention how zippy their ebikes were because they used high drain/current cells. I'm asking 'cause I've bn wondering about building a 3000-5000w hub motor bike at 72V and have bn wondering how big the controller would need to be and even if the QUANTITY of batteries would make a performance difference beyond giving you a longer range. Any other things to optimize motor performance with batteries/controller/?? There's another reviewer, Maximum Charge?, who did a distance check, and with the 20ah battery he got about 20 miles running it hard- that's about a mile per ah! That's the problem with these higher powered motors, the batteries don't begin to keep up for any distance. I grew up riding motorcycles, so every ebike I've had so far seems very underpowered!

front and rear turn signals would be nice. is there a reason why the headlights in these bikes are all connected to the fender instead of to the frame? if it’s the cables, they could probably arrange the cable management. on the fender you got a lot of road vibration and movement with the suspension.

Love seeing the competition and continual upgrades in the ebike world! I've got the previous model Freedom and really like it - I hope they go to a 72V setup next and can give me the ability to cruise consistently at 40mph for when I need to around town in traffic - but also still have the ability to ride slow at like 8mph on trails. That's the dream for me, ultimate commuter+pleasure bike at that point! While I'm at it making suggestions (in case they read this), here are some other things they might consider: - ADD MOUNTING HOLES FOR A FRONT RACK PLEASE! - Turn signals included (but make them off the shelf, easily replaceable standardized ones. No proprietary integrated turn signals please because they can break if the bike falls over.) - Change that display so polarized glasses don't affect it. - Give me more PAS levels, maybe like 7 instead of 5. So I have more granularity in speed levels. But also let me customize how many PAS levels I want enabled. So if I want 3 levels I can have that, or all 7 if I want. - Put more charge lights on the batteries. I like to charge my battery up to ~80-90% to preserve the life on it. With only 4 lights on the battery itself, I can't easily tell what percentage it's at. It could be at 51% or 70% and I can't tell without putting it in the bike and turning it on. - Maybe a tire upgrade for the speeds we're starting to get up to? I wouldn't want that to increase the weight a whole bunch though...so I'm not sure on this one. - On the topic of weight, I think we're nearly at the maximum weight for an ebike. Like, 110lbs with batteries installed should be the absolute max. Otherwise we're starting to get into motorbike territory. And no more than 90lbs without batteries IMO.

Also, was just thinking. If you ride a flat trail, with the percentage adjustment on the PAS internal settings, you can dial in an exact mph for a given PAS setting, sort of like cruise control while peddling.

What would be amazing for this bike is if they had a removable piece where step through is optional. The secured piece of metal could slide in and out and secure in place on the frame and in place on the top of the seat mount with either 4 small screws on both connections or some sort of quick release/tightening device.

Awesome vid, thanks for the follow up details. I actually have a question I'm pretty sure only you can answer - wired chat support didn't seem to know the answer. How much space is between the rear air shock and the frame gap that it's housed in? Would it be possible to put a D-lock or chain through there? I only ask because using the rear triangle to lock up the step-through seems sketchy since its just the rear suspension bolts keeping the lock in place (instead of a fully enclosed welded frame space).

Great handlebar, thank you. Some bikes have no adjustment (duh). The front sprocket size ALWAYS needs to be stated and emphasized, regardless the top speed. 48T is obsolete, 52T was/is less obsolete, now I'm counting 12 teeth per fifth of the sprocket = 60 teeth on the front sprocket ???!!! Jeepers, could be 60T now and that has only one drawback - clearance is reduced, and you have to watch the size of boulders and steps you roll over. Nice that the headlight follows the turn. Blinker is missed by some people who want at least a safety blink going on. Maybe the brake light will blink? Some bikes have a strong enough rack to carry a passenger. Some have foot pegs. The logic to these is important, if you have an need to transport someone you need the seat strength and pegs. I will bet the "frame flex" is almost none - the suspension is deceptive and 99.99% of the flex is to the rear. Battery box toward the front tire is always a concern... stones, mud, rain... but you could (I certainly would) add a canvas cover with velcro closure all around for added protection. Then I like it better. Finally, what is the thickness of the brake discs? Hopefully 5mm and not 3mm. In my opinion the water porting is excessive and weakens the disc ring so much it is easy to bend with a typical bump to a stump. Maybe there is a stronger disc at 203mm diameter that can be swapped. Hands down, I would buy this bike as it is. Bonus - we get a torque sensor? Wow. One last wish: folding, so I can put it inside my RV - and I would pay more to have it fold.

If you need to get out of an area quickly can you reset it to your personal performance setting? Sometimes bike trails go thru sections of town that warrant a burst of speed to avoid "bike jacking".

Is Wired planning on adding pre-drilled holes for a basket add-on in front?
@stopcantstopwont9539
@stopcantstopwont9539 Ай бұрын
Why not use the mount they have without holes in the bike? There have to be a bunch of baskets on Amazon that would fit like the basket they sell in their store.

I'm curious, the distance between the rear rack and the saddle is pretty small. Does the rear rack hit the back of the seat when the rear shock is fully compressed? Would you be able to test it on the prototype Wired Cruiser?

They need more options and the option to get a custom color for an extra couple hundred bucks. I'm going to do the custom color with "the other guy" and it'll be at my door in 75 days. I'll pay for what I want. Great video.
@jfly2249
@jfly2249 Ай бұрын
Buy the e cell. If color is more important than acceleration, hill climbing, or top speed. Hopefully they will have fixed their frame by the time you get it. Their customization strategy looks like an absolute cluster and now you know why no one else is doing it. By the time you get your bike, the summer will be over, Wired will probably have a 72v out, but you will have the color you want.

75 days is crazy for more options in color, lol.... You can get wraps for your bike and actually make it customized for that price. I got a black cruiser for 2104$ after tax an should get it in like 30 days. An extra 45 days I'd loose my mind.

It looked like the throttle still had a slight delay in your video perhaps, did you receive the update by any chance or were they still working on that or rolling it out?

this one has delay since it is the prototype, they are re-flashing all the displays on production bikes before they ship out.

Range test would be best pedal only cause that's the most draining. We would know it only goes up from there by pedaling!

The display not working with polarized glasses is kinda silly. The old display had no issues and any quality sunglasses are typically polarized. Wonder how someone missed that? Perhaps they could correct it before the first shipment?

1:45 What if, say, i run the main battery down then add in a fresh rear battery?? Does it still draw equally? or does it draw from the fuller charged battery until they equalize? 🤔

So are the bikes that will be shipped have a different display than the one in this video? Or same display with the different way to set the pedal assist?

How is "power-based" significantly better than "speed-based"? With speed-based, at least you would know what speed you would end up at in each PAS setting. With power-based, wouldn't 50% power be different on flat ground vs hills? Wouldn't torque sensor always be better in giving you more precise control of your own speed?

How is this beast to ride without the pedal assist to get a bit of exercise? Is it as difficult as I imagine for a 100lb bike?

i have the older version i am 5 foot 6. i would make a 24 inch tire with a 60 volt pouch battery which has more power like the m18 or dewalt new battery chemistry that would put them in a new league in my opinion or maybe it is in the cards. because the power is major difference between the 2 styles plus lighter more range more power it is a no brainer but it would cost is maybe why
