You are So right ! I am shocked how many E-bikes come with super uncomfortable low handle bars. Stepping up to BMX style is not difficult However, If all the leads are too short it turns into a nightmare to swap over ! Thus making other E-bike options a deal breaker..

If your brakes fail, you can always use your foot on the the tire to stop. When I was a kid i had a BMX with no bakes at all and this is how i would stop it. Confirmed to work on a rad runner.

I lowered the gearing on my Freedom, 46 tooth chain ring in front. I think 49 on back. "Shoot the Chit" youtuber shows you how to change this, and I didn't have to remove any links in chain... Now it a hill climbing off road BEAST! Also removed fenders and rack, headlight. Swapped out pedals for clip in on one side, platform on the other. Changed grips to more grippy ones.. With lower smaller chain ring up front better off road ground clearance, with new pedals less change of pedal strike when leaning bike and negotiating corners.. Love my FREEDOM!!! Love your videos too!!! : )

Are the crank arms the same length? My feet have dragged at times on corners.
@Sherman1862
@Sherman1862 Ай бұрын
Cranks arms are the same, but i swapped out the pedals for theses clip in SPD on one side, ride with cleats so can pull up on pedal stroke as well as push down, better workout and can power pedals through full rotation of pedal stroke. Brand was "FUNN" on Amazon for $100 can also ride or use the platform side with regular shoes... Get the smaller size, won't get p3edal strikes on corners. Also, better ground clarence if you ride off road like I do in northern California. But with this gearing can climb steep hills like crazy like I do in the East San Francisco Bay Are4a, but you hardly lose any top end, I don't need to go 40MPH, so I prefer better torque and power at higher RPMS >> Easier to pedal too when at Pedal Assist Zero when you want to get a good workout.@@BabyBoomer1959

Most fat tire ebikes have chain rings that are too small. Meaning you're geared to low. In the highest gear you're spinning your legs off at 25mph. Then the freedom comes out with a massive 56t chain ring which is to big for some people who take lots of hills. It's geared to high even when in the lowest gear. I'm thinking a 48 or 50t chain ring would be a nice compromise on the Freedom. More clearance between the ground and the smaller chain ring is a plus as well.

The Wired Freedom is an Alpha Machine ! Large and in Charge ! My Freedom was well worth the wait. However now I hear there are Freedom's in stock, you can actually have one by next week . A few weeks ago, some friends and I went on a fantastic 67 mile ride down the Santa Ana river bike trail from Green river road to Huntington beach. We had lunch on the boardwalk. Must have seen over a1000 ebikes down at the beach ! It was a hoot ! Yes we were all packin additional batteries with blenders to make that ride ! (range anxiety sucks). Can't wait to do it again !

Nice vid. I’ve been riding the Kepler for over a year. I’m with you-20 is about all I ever do. Or less. I also upgraded from a 500 watt that just wasn’t doing it on hills. Now I’m thinking hard about a bike with a bigger battery and I may try a torque sensor.

I had a torque sensor on 500 watt bike, I prefer the cadence sensor with a known predetermined power output. I can keep cadence and exertion fairly steady throughout the ride.

@butchie2752 17 күн бұрын
@@BabyBoomer1959 at my age 76 I don’t know if I would view the extra pedaling as a plus especially since I already know how to work the cadence pretty well. I do find ghost pedaling pretty annoying though. I may get the torque sensor and keep my Kepler especially since the used market prices are way down. It seems fairly obvious that the Chinese are dumping the low end bikes as fast as they can.

I just received mine about a month ago. After putting it together I boosted the speed up and I can top out at 30mph. Almost all speed limits in Las Vegas are 45. With the 4 Cylinder Turbos they push upwards of 55 - 60mph Everywhere! But there is a new Scooter Rental business moving here according to an internet local news channel article. And 20mph is the legal limit. Class 2. But now that it is warming up, I'm looking forward to parking my expensive to repair car for as long as I can.

@BabyBoomer1959

Guess it depends how steep. I go up a mile long hill no problem. Also, when you say ruts, it is definitely not a mountain bike. It handles bumps well, but ruts would need to be extreme low speed crawling in my opinion.

@@DASO_MILITIA but this bike is no MTB. To big and heavy. It's more of a cruiser for the street that can also do well on dirt fire roads, lighter trails. Not built for gnarly technical stuff. So the BMX bars, being much higher, is better for a more comfortable upright riding position and suits the freedom well.

@@BabyBoomer1959 yes, it has a class 2 sticker, and it is factory "down tuned" to meet that specification. The factory fully understands, and engineered their bike to be a 2kw plus operation. The class 2 sticker is just a silly game they are playing to skip around the legality issues in some states. All that said, the various All Wheel Drive (AWD, dual motor) bikes with 2kw of total power will always outclimb the Wired freedom. For one, you have two wheels applying power, AND your total torque figure is about 30 to 40 percent higher.
