A local group has just moved the Great Basin Community Food Cooperative downtown and openned it to the public. There are still memberships available. The coop offers locally grown fruits and vegetables to Reno residents. The new store was designed and built by volunteers and has many sustainable assets. There are recycled materials and environmentally friendly paints, tiles and other features. The new grocery store is also accessible to patrons on foot and is close to a bus route. The store takes food stamps. The organizers goal is to provide healthy home grown food to the Reno community.
