For those who may be wondering, that suppressor marked 33,200 UAH is roughly 867 US dollars. So very reasonable price for a .50 cal suppressor.

Swede asking a maybe dumb question: does a silencer affect the ballistics in a negative way? Why is it important at that range? Is it easy to locate where the bullet came from without one? Whats the meaning of it in this seamingly open field?

Being trained as an infantry sniper in the Finnish Defence Force, this was a super interesting watch! Shows a different side of the ground combat to the close quarters trench/house clearing. Just as important in the grand scheme of things as vision really is everything and knowing what your enemy is doing 1km away is all info that you can use to their disadvantage.

Onko millasta hommaa?
@rofln00b
@rofln00b 3 ай бұрын

@@rofln00b Hei kiitos paljon noin kattavasta vastauksesta :D Heti tuntuu jo paljon enemmän motivoituneelta koko homman suhteen.

haha tell that to kentucky ballistics and the gaping hole in his neck after his serbu .50BMG catastrophically failed 🤣🤣🤣 (im being sarcastic FYI, Mark Serbu does indeeed make incrediby well engineered weapons and yes even though there was a catastrophic failure....even before and after the incident kentucky ballistics said himself he was using very "hot" loaded RAUFOSS .50BMG rounds that he "probably" shouldmt have been messing with in the first place as they could and did very easily cause a big whoopsie. Which only happened because of the dodgy ammunition and had nothing to do with the rifle itsself. if nobody knows what im on about just search for it on here not hard to find and very fascinating IMO)

It's a 338 lapua mag, and bmg stands for browning machine gun. And 50 ranges widely in prices but nato ball is around 5$ a round, they're getting 50bmg for free which is nice, however this rifle which isn't a Serbu doesn't shoot 50bmg... It's a 338 lapua mag which they highly lack ammo for because it's not a widely used nato round hence him picking up brass to reload. Again 338LM price widely varies from 5$ to maybe 10$ for match grade ammo. Again 50 bmg is in surplus over there ball armor piercing incendiary, api tracers, armor piercing, ect. If big if they are paying for it they're getting it for very very cheap if I can buy that ammo for 5$ a round highly likely they're paying less than a dollar per round as they getting massive amounts hundreds of thousands of rounds at a time

That day we were engaging a suspected SPG position. The SPG is just a roided up RPG. There was a small cluster of buildings a little to the right of where we were shooting. The Russians would run out, fling a few rounds at an adjacent unit in a treeline and run back to cover. I doubt we hit any personnel or equipment but the sporadic mg fire silenced the SPG. This reminds me of a George Orwell book, where he said one army would be laid on one hill top and the other army would be laid on another hill top on the other side of a valley. Both would take pot shots at each other but would never hit. Both sides could sit there for months facing each other knowing they’d never get hit because the marksmanship was so poor.

It isn’t the marksmanship. They’re 1km away from the enemy.

As a just some smooth brain on the internet, I'm curious if it's a bad idea to shoot a tracer and not move after?... I personally wouldn't want to stay in the same spot

Looking at this, I was concerned about his buddy making too much unnecessary movements which would be detected by the enemy. They appear to be on a road embankment on which movement can be easily detected and to the enemy, the view is a straight horizontal line on the horizon; any movement there is not too difficult to spot from afar. I would think that a sniper, spotter team would not want to be too close to a cluster of fellow infantrymen with very little concealment. Best of luck to you.

It is actually easy to tell another team member the distance right or left of the BMP. Let's say we make up a new unit of measurement called a 'Whatever'. If the BMP is equal to 4 whatevers, then how far more to the right is the green tarp? 2.5 Whatevers? 1.75 Whatevers? The BMP is a static width (never changes) so just pick a unit of measure using that object which both people can see.
