I saw this movie in Hong Kong. The scene where the guy from Hong Kong was shot is probably most poignant to people in Hong Kong, some of which considered themselves as NOT Chinese (there's call for independence during the 2019-20 riots). In the movie, the HK character answered he's from "Hong Kong" and the militia guy nodded and said "China" and shot him. It's clear the director wanted to make the point that in the eyes of the militia guy, Hong Kong and China are one and the same - so much for Hong Kong independence !

It is a generalization by skin tone and facial features nothing to do with favouring sides or political views. Chinese branding extends to other Asian countries as many have observed/experienced during the global health crisis.

theres also a clip from a hk movie thats been clipped up by a chinese guy as he made a poignant speech about news fake media in the movie as a news reader.... dont know the movie, but the guy is Sam Huis older brother... famous comedian actor... you can probably find the clip or movie if you hunt hard enough.... but i dont know his english name... but anyway Sam Huis older brother plays or is in the business of news reading and he essentially predicts or foretells western msm propaganda...which blew my mind as its a hk movie from 90s or 80s... its not the really early sam hui movies where they work as a magazine or newspaper private eye though... he is literally a news reader

I really struggle with people who think Hong Kong is not Chinese territory. It has always been Chinese territory. The UK took HK from China at gun point when the Chinese refused to accept payment for Chinese goods by opium grown by the British and shipped into China by the Americans. The British forced China to cede HK island to the British and in part 2 of their drug war obtained a 100 year lease on the New Territories. When the NT lease ran out, the gig was up for the Jewel in the Crown and the Brits had to return HK. Nobody in HK voted whilst it was a British colony, it was a western dictatorship.. Today people in are free from colonial tyranny and get a vote. Get over it. What was stolen by the British in war was returned to its rightful owner in peace. Peace and Harmony is the way of China.

Can't believe it's already been 25 years and the Matrix is still a classic! I absolutely love that movie, too, agent Iain. One thing I found about US movies and have grown less tolerant by day of is the excessive violence and sex. There's always tons of first fights gun fights and explosions. Nowadays taking more and more time in the movie and squeezing out the last bit of intelligence. It is said someone asked GPT how to write script for Godzilla vs King Kong before the movie was released just to find exactly the same story in cinema afterwards. I tried watching civil war but was not able to finish it. The even sadder thing is now you can see tons of real war clips including an armoured vehicle hit by a drone and a soldier running out of it with whole body burning and falling to to the ground shortly after. Just can't believe it's not a movie scene.

Yeah, real life is seen on the social media and it is sad to see what is happening and it does also highlight how the Movie version is not real… and often misses the point. I also agree with how rubbish the movies are these days, it does seem like it is often a vehicle for ‘action scenes’ rather than any real substance and they wonder why people are not going to the movies these days… because they have seen it all before in the previous years blockbusters. Same story every time. The Matrix was an outstanding movie and did open up the mind to so much more… ✌️

Thanks for sharing your insightful views. 👍 The topic focus and release of your vlog is timely. As an update, Russia has deployed war ships to Cuba in response to further escalation of the ongoing Ukraine conflict with u$ to supply additional armaments to launch attacks on Russian territory. This could setoff an irreversible chain reaction of biblical proportions... Cuban missile crisis 2.0? I too have seen the lastest alex garland production and was disappointed with the plot/ending. I am no prophet (nor pretend to be) but the movie seems to be a foreshadow of a culmination/confluence of world events unfolding around us. In reference to the execution scene of the As1an victims, the anguish/blame (supposedly as portrayed through the broader Amerikan perspective) is directed towards the ascendence of a particular nation for the continuing downfall of their own empire. I believe your perception and opposition to war resonates with the vast majority of the global population. Unfortunately, the powerful/evil forces do not allow humanity to live in unity and peace but rather in a divided state of perpetual turmoil and conflict to gratify their selfish interest. Let's hope that cooler heads prevail and somehow the broiling tensions diffuse for the sake of mankind. 🙏

Thank you for the add to the conversation and I always enjoy reading your comments as it does help me gather more perspectives and to learn. I seen the move towards Cuba and it is terrifying. But I see the similarities in what USA does elsewhere and now that the world is changing, I do believe it is time for cooler heads, I am not sure they exists in the current political atmosphere. I think the vast majority of people want to prosper, together in peace, but the money men want a different world from that and they are holding a controlling interest as they try and preserve what they had.. (I use the word ‘had’, because they don’t realise that it is gone)

Hi Iain, greetings from the Isle of Lewis. First of all the company who produced the Civil War movie Higher Ground Productions was founded by and is owned by Barack and Michelle Obama so it is very interesting the story they are wishing to tell... I thought the most interesting part of the movie was when they pulled into the petrol station for fuel which was guarded by militia. Kirsten Dunst's character offered them 300 dollars and they scoffed, and then they said 300 Canadian which got their attention. The implication was that the US dollar was close to wortheless. When you consider who was behind the movie, it certainly raises some very concerning questions.

That scene wasn’t anti Chinese in my opinion. The scenes before where they were happy and very likeable, it helps get the audience to build an emotional link to them. Then they meet the militia guy with the gun and he kills them both. Ppl are suppose to feel shocked and sad for the ppl being killed. The militia guy was suppose to be a guy for the audience to hate and show what ignorance and hate can make ppl do. It’s like the movie is trying to humanise those characters and how fun loving they are and how Caucasian Americans can have great friends from China and they aren’t the enemy. The idea is it makes the audience feel shocked and horrified at the murders and how you don’t want to be like that militia guy. I must admit when I watched it, I felt very uneasy about it. But then again the whole movie was like that though.
