Cut and color makeover on Claire of heyclaire.com - / ohhaiclaire
I'm making Claire's hair lighter but I did it in a happy healthy way. This will be the beginning process of getting her hair lighter. Check out her videos and you will see the progression over time. I use the least damaging products as possible - no bleach and low volume developer.
Please do not try this at home! Come see me!

the frames are from a brand called prism london (style name is RIO) that I purchased at opening ceremony in Los Angeles and I got my prescription filled in them... they're huge and sometimes i cant breathe because it falls and pinches my noise but i freaking love them!! haha

I have to tell ya, I love her hair both ways! Of course the after was amazing. I love that shiny black hair, it almost has natural blue highlights. I tried to get my hair like that but the blue highlights would just turn red. You're so cute, Anna Lee!

level 3 natural. I would actually use a level 9 color with a blue/ash tone to neutralize the red/orange. Think starting level is 3. target shade is 6. 6 - 3 = 3. target shade is 6, now add the 3, that equals 9. theres your natural tone and knowing level 3 hair picks up red and orange, remember color theory :) to what cancels those to tones :) another option is to use highlift colors, majilift by loreal professionnel is amazing and is made for natural dark bases. Check it out :)

I looove what you did with claire's hair!! I wanted to know if you had to dye her eyebrows? I have naturally black hair like claire's, so my eyebrows are dark black, will I have to dye them brown to match the color of her hair when I do it or will it blend if I leave it?

absolutely love this! please do a tutorial on how to layer hair! In Claire's vlog about changing up her hair you mentioned that getting your hair razored is bad for your hair and that's the only way my Korean hairdresser thins out my hair. She seems to get thinning and layering mixed up. I would love to see how you do it! :)

sorry I don't do haircutting tutorials. i always suggest seeking a professional to color and cut hair :) yea I'm not a fan of razor haircuts or thinning the hair out. It just ends up looking damaged and frizzy to me. I love pretty healthy effortless hair :)

Hi! i just saw Claire's hair and i would love to come out to LA but i live all the way in philly so that possibility of me coming to see you is very unlikely but i LOVE what you've done with her hair! If you could please tell me exactly how you didn't use any bleach would be awesome because i currently have highlights in my hair all over and my stylist uses bleach and i highlight my hair about twice a year and i really want a different look. please help me

@sbbbjm negative ghost rider. I would use 10 vol. :) I never go over 20 volume. Anything higher to me comprises the integrity of the hair.

... and oh mah guhhh, u just blew my mind! why didn't i think of that?! oh yeah, it's bc i like to over complicate things, ha. i remember doing this once in beauty school on an indian client using a level 7 matte green. anyway, i'm assuming you're using 40 vol?

hey i'm a fellow asian stylist, but i don't get a lot of opportunities to work with asian hair :( - anyway, i have a general question about highlighting. if a client is a level 3 and wants level 6 highlights, do you lift them to an 8 and then tone down to a 6 or do you lift to a 6 and just tone out the orange?

You are amazing!!! You should do tutorials for fellow hairstylist. Feel like I didn't learn enough in school. We all do. Didn't learn much, but basics. It has held me back, because I don't wanna jack people up!! Haha.. Think about it, PLEEEEEASE

Awwww. That's a shame you feel that way but I think I would too. I know they teach the basics but we want to learn more. Anna Lee's videos are priceless. I think hands on would be the best thing for you, just go for it. Don't let anything hold you back, hon. XO

there are ways of achieving the ombre look without the damage. i would suggest seeing a professional hairstylist to do it for you. :)

@annaleeandjesse ; Please fly to Michigan to do my hair. I've had this same color, same cut since I was born. & I really want to ombre my hair. But the thing is, I'm scare to. I don't have a lot of hair, and it's very freakin thing also. I'm scared that if I do ombre it, that my hair will fall off. & I'll be bald. HELP !
