If you wanna see all my friends' hairstyles from here, they're on their instagram :D @hair_salon_nalu
Since people have been asking, it seems like it's still not too common in America, but this is what I could find on amazon:
amzn.to/2bZsV3V
amzn.to/2cv4cru
The second one seems to be a really common one sold in Japan. Here's the Japanese info page on it: www.4960.com/iron/as2865uf.html
Thank you to Iijima-san for doing my hair!! I obviously never knew how much of a difference a real hair salon makes so I don't think I can ever go back to just cutting my hair myself! I always thought I just had dumb frizzy hair. Welp. Next time I'm thinking about trying a Japanese straight perm~ :D

Lots of people are asking about that thing he's using on her hair. This is going to be such a long post, but being related to hair stylists has its perks... To Rachel and Jun, my apologies for the super long comment! It's a "Cold Conditioning Iron" also known as a "Sonic Smoothing Iron" Basically, that vibrating system vaporizes water or other liquids into smaller particles so they can penetrate the hair. The water he was using contains some kind of mild conditioning agent- so it wouldn't weigh the hair down, only soften it. And since it's cold, it closes the hair shaft to lock the moisture in behind it- giving the same shine effect that you get when you rinse your hair in cold water and don't use heat on it. It basically just forces good stuff into your hair and keeps it there. This will last longer the less heat you use on your hair (as heat opens the hair shaft). Another thing to note- this does NOT straighten your hair! Dry or damaged hair tends to kink, not curl. That's why it gets frizzy. If a person with curly hair were to use this treatment, it would just mean smooth, frizz-free curls, not straight hair. All the iron itself did was lock moisture into her hair to repair it and make it less likely to frizz- that hair texture left behind is all hers. Which is why you can see the stylist using a normal straightener on his lovely model Rachel at the end there, and blow-drying it flat with a paddlebrush. THAT was the styling portion, the "straightener" only made her hair top condition to allow for better styling. This is frequently advertised as a "straightening treatment" in high-asian populations because, when healthy, most asians have extremely straight hair. The "Permanent straightening systems" they also sell are like a reverse perm, and those actually chemically change your hair's texture and need to be repeated on your roots or they look weird. The only US brand name of this iron type I know off the top of my head is the Ego Professional, but I can also see that this stylist is using a different brand. Nothing you will buy at home will give you these results from one use, and the stylist's skills are also helping here, but you will probably be able to get these results with two or three uses of an at home system. Unfortunately, the glorious red mane isn't included no matter what you do. Eh heh, I'll shut up about hair now >.< 恥ずかしいです。

A very IMPORTANT thing to warn people when handling the ultrasonic iron. DO NOT TOUCH the pads when it is active. Ultrasonic vibration would instantly kill your cells if you touch it with your bare fingers. I learned this in my engineering lab where we have ultrasonic baths to clean things. In this video you see that the hair specialist did not touch the pads when the pads turn blue which indicates the ultrasonic is on.

@RachelandJunAdventures
@RachelandJunAdventures 7 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I think Japanese people are far more impressed and dazzled by blonde hair! haha They always ask me if it's my natural color and they like it, but a lot of Japanese people dye their hair varying shades of brown (which my hair doesn't always look too different from depending on the lighting) so I don't think it seems that unusual to them.

Since a lot of people have been asking, it seems like these irons aren't very common in America yet, but I was able to find two on amazon. Here's one from Jose Eber: amzn.to/2bZsV3V And a Japanese brand A's Style: amzn.to/2cv4cru The second one seems to be a really common one sold in Japan. Here it is on their website with a bunch of info and vids and stuff (in Japanese... of course): www.4960.com/iron/as2865uf.html It's an ultrasonic hair iron, no heat, not for straightening hair. It vibrates water/oil/treatment molecules until they're small enough to enter your hair shaft, basically making treatments super effective. It doesn't straighten hair at all. My hair is naturally straight but I had a lot of damage that made it super frizzy, which this iron helped smooth out. My hair was crazy soft after this. It looks like the ones you use at home you're just supposed to use after conditioning your hair. Another commenter mentioned that the ones you can buy for home aren't quite as powerful so it'll take more uses to get a noticeable difference.

Rachel & Jun's Adventures! i see at as a huge bonus that it doesn't straighten hair omfg i really want one now but okay so my hair is naturally curly (or wavy i guess actually and super frizzy always) and my current routine involves braiding it after i take a shower, sleeping that way and letting it dry and then using a flat iron only on the very top and bottoms of my hair so that like ?? the middle is wavy but i try to keep the frizz down??? it doesn't really work. i really want one of these lmao i saw the first link on amazon and all the reviews were actually so good ahh ;^;

Okay, more information since people are asking! They said the treatment uses an ultrasonic iron. "It uses a cold iron that vibrates intensely at 37,000 beats per second to separate protein, water and oil particles in the treatment formula to ensure the deepest penetration into your hair." It's supposed to be extra effective for super frizzy, dry, damaged hair (kinda like mine!) The treatment costs ¥7,560. I'm on week two and my hair is still mostly non-frizzy and waaaay softer/nicer than it was before (i.imgur.com/yhY6oUA.jpg)! But also because I've never had any other treatments the effect is probably extra noticeable on me. I'll keep you updated on how long it lasts. :D

I LOVE this! Rachel, I have always loved your hair, but as someone who went from growing up in Michigan, to living in Florida for a few years I 100% understand the humidity struggle. I cut my own hair too (started cutting it myself, and stopped dying it in 2012~2013) because it's so expensive, and because it's so thick, layering is the best option for me to make it look calmer. How long will that treatment keep your hair smooth? Gah, thid is so so cool. Also, I loved how you looked when they had your bangs back during the treatment. Your bangs are a gorgeous statement, but holy crap your face shape is amazing for a bare forehead. How dare you hide the money maker from us all this time :P You're glowing at the end. I'm so happy that you loved the experience so much.

I got Elujuda hair from him (sun treatment serum) which I've been using after I shower. Before that I had a couple different post-shower serums that (judging from my before) probably didn't do all that much! In the past I've tried combing some coconut oil through it and washing it out, which maybe worked a little? But it takes quite a while and it's been probably a year since I did that last. As for now I'll just stick with the Elujuda serum until I go back again! haha

You got lots to read,read to the end I promise you, it will be SOOO worth it. I speak the truth to help everyone trying to learn Japanese. There are three systems of Japanese you need to know. Hiragana- The basic sounds of Japanese, used as particles,vocabulary, and such. Katakana- It has all the same sounds as hiragana but it looks different. This is used for foreign words, foods, careers, animals and more. Kanji-This is the most feared when you are learning Japanese. It is borrowed form Chinese characters but in it's own Japanese form. TO be able to read newspapers you will need to know about 2,000 kanji. I have REALLY effective websites for all three of these systems. Hiragana-www.tofugu.com/japanese/learn-hiragana/ Ilearned hiragana with this website within a week. Katakana-www.tofugu.com/japanese/learn-hiragana/ This is the same website so it works basically the same way. Kanji- www.wanikani.com/ This website is the best thing on the internet for vocab and kanji. I searched almost all websites and couldn't come across one this good. The website is made from the same people for hiragana and katakana. The website says within 1-2 years you can learn over 2,000 kanji, and 6,000 vocab words. If you think about it, Japanese kids learn that in 8 years, so that would be really good. There are 61 levels. First 3 are free but 4-61 would be $10 a month. If you think about it, it is cheaper than having a tutor that charges $30 for 30 minutes (because most tutors do). Grammar: www.japaneseammo.com/absolute-beginners/ There could be better websites but I find this one more helpful ,especially with particles. Extra advice from my own experience: -If you don't practice and learn everyday your system will get ruined and you will create a wall blocking your learning. -You need to remind yourself everyday why you are learning japanese. Self learners need extra motivation. (trust me I just got back from over 4 week of learners block ;-; i realized how much time i lost when i could've learn more). - There are formal and in-formal vocab words so be careful! -You need to learn both Onyomi(chinese reading) and Kunyomi(japanese reading) of the kanji. -If you did research about the culture of Japan, it may make your love for the language stronger. -If you take time and read the articles about the language,it will help. -Don't learn to write, it will slow you down. Wait until you Fairly understand Japanese. -Start learning grammar once you reached level 5 of WaniKani's kanji and vocabulary. -Don't give up. If you ever need help please come to me. I am trying my best to learn and I want to help you.

Japanese salons are my go--to spots where I live. They are always so down to earth, sweet, and complimentary (beautiful people inside out). At the end of every visit I always walk out looking flawless. Not to add they're meticulous stylist, they take their time making each client look amazing! Love em.' I will totally bookmark this btw and visit the salon in the very near future, thanks for sharing that info.

It looks so amazing. I totally have to go there next time I'm in Japan! I haven't been to a salon for years. I was to scared to go after the last place I visited chopped off my waist length hair to my shoulders, when I went for a trim. I have very thin hair, and they said they thought if they cut it off it would grow back thicker. I cried.

There was a time I didn't understand why someone would be so upset at having their hair cut too short but after I learned that it can take four or more years for a young lady to grow out her hair to a long length I felt a lot more sympathetic. This is why most woman develop a loyalty to a trusted stylist and will follow them if they should move on to a different salon. I hope you will find a salon that you can trust.

Trust me, if you get up close my skin is super pocked from a lifetime of acne D: My acne is hormonal though, so after 12 years of failing with creams, medicines, cleaners, no cleaners, and everything else under the sun, I found out I needed to take spironolactone to block my excess testosterone. Now I literally don't even have to wash my face. It was just all hormonal. Do you notice if yours gets better if you take birth control pills? That's a sign that hormones are playing a big role!

+Rachel & Jun's Adventures! I actually just got off from using birth control....my acne isn't as bad as it was when I was on birth control....it's gotten better...i use vaseline and this vitamin e gel i have on my skin now and it works pretty good...i wear the vaseline as an overnight mask and in the morning I'll rinse it off and my face looks brighter,it's not dry and flaky,my skin looks and feels amazing...and surprisingly if you have any acne that's like an open cut or scabbing,vaseline helps with preventing infection and helps it heal faster...i mostly use vaseline as a moisturizer though....and the vitamin e gel i have you can actually use all over your body...it's used for cuts,blemishes,sunburn,dry skin,irritation,a lot of uses for it,it works good and feels amazing and dries fast and it's not greasy feeling...a lot of people seem to have issues with vaseline but I haven't had any except it's a little greasy...just don't put a lot on lol I put a very thin layer on for overnight

+heather cleveland If you're having issues with moisture then have you looked into the oil cleansing method? You use an oil (like mineral oil) to wash your face, and it prevents your skin from drying out like it does with normal cleaners. It actually made my skin look really nice but I ended up being one of the few who broke out from mineral oil. Most people seem not to have a problem with it though!
@1213kira
@1213kira 7 жыл бұрын
+Rachel & Jun's Adventures! I've not considered trying that :o maybe I should because normal cleansers dry out my face Dx really bad and irritates my skin....my skin is very sensitive to everything it seems...the mineral oil sounds like a good idea(since it is a mineral oil,so,most likely,it probably doesn't have a bunch of alcohol products and chemicals that would irritate and damage my skin) cx I'll give it a go lol thanks for talking with me and for the idea

I have combo oily and dry skin. I use vinegar to exfoliate, and coconut oil to moisturize. Pretty rarely these days. But when I'm going out a lot I make sure to wipe my face down basically the second I get home so all the grime from the day is off my skin and it can breathe!

It actually is! There's a chart that's used to determine what type of hair people have, which helps in figuring out what products to use on it and how to style it. Foreigners range the whole chart, whereas Asian hair is mostly 1c (super straight, thick hair shafts that maintain their shape and don't curl easily). www.andrewalkerhair.com/v/vspfiles/templates/140/Hair-Typing-System.asp

Although i would recommend for root touch ups ever 4-6months as it looks ridiculous when the bottom of the hair is super straight. The only down side it was that it costed me around $200 (well i have super long hair)

It's just not something my family did. My mom wasn't into makeup and didn't really use any beauty products, and we didn't have the money to spend on salons and stuff so my mom cut my hair herself. My girl friends also weren't very "girly" or anything, either, so I don't think many of them did anything like that. It was just never a part of my life until now!

oh!! i see! Salons must be expensive from where you were from. I'm from a small town in Philippines and you can get a really nice haircut haircut for just US$1.5 there XD They can do pretty much any hairstyle like getting layers, or a fringe, or a bobcut, etc.. that doesn't involve any special hairtreatment or ironing :p They do treatments too for about $20 and that's from a decent hairsalon :p

actually that's pretty normal considering all the stuff they did to her hair and the length of her hair. i know where I live in the USA to get my hair deep conditioned, cut, and styled would cost about the same. I also have long hair like Rachel's.

Ha! I'm black/Hispanic and honestly, spending straight $50 is cheap (if not a standard starting point). Most of the time though, it takes me at least $150 to get my hair done. My daughter is mixed as well (w/ Caucasian) and her hair is curly but with a fine texture, as well as waist length and just to cut wash and style, it's around $50. And we live in the US. Beautiful hair Rachel btw, I've always been curious about those types of treatments. Definitely take us along, if you decide to get the more permanent one done!

I have butt length hair and that's what it costs me here in the states too. My salon does do the bangs for free, even without a hair cut so there is that, but yeah, seems about right.
@kelly714

It costs me roughly £30 to get my hair cut. It's £60 if I get it dyed too. I have to dye my hair professionally (even though I only dye it _very_ rarely) but yeah... It's quite expensive. It just depends on the products they use. But in the hairdressers I go to, hair length doesn't matter. My hair is kinda long (just below my shoulders, more than a few inches at least) but even when I cut my hair shorter the price didn't change.
