She was an idiot and her father would be ashamed of her. She ran Williams into the ground no one else. She also did it in record time. Watching her on a bailiff TV program in the UK was hilarious. The racing world is better off without her.

I was smitten by Claire and still am. I love this woman. What an amazing human being despite how it all worked out in the end. I know she agonized over selling her father's business, but it was inevitable. Times are very different now to when her Father was running the show back in the day. It has become a very cut throat and sometimes brutal sport. Claire. You are still my Hero. All my love to you Dear.

I cannot even imagine the challenges you faced, not only to run an F1 team, but to try and compete in the modern manufacturer funded world of F1. Handing the team off to someome who is continuing the fight under the Willaims name was brilliant. Thank you for all you gave.

Nice little interview. I think anyone who loves F1 would love to see Williams up at the top again. I was a Silverstone in '92 when Red 5 won, oh my god what a day. The cars, the noise, the crowd and of course our Nige. I still look back with a smile at that amazing day. Awesome. To see passionate people running F1 teams, regardless of their family name, is how it is now. Zak Brown is a good example, loves any form of motorsport but McLaren is his world. In this scenario, we see the classic family business model, albeit on a grander scale. The father achieves significant success, but his true strength lies in operational efficiency rather than entrepreneurial acumen. Meanwhile, one of the children joins the company and rapidly ascends the corporate ladder, potentially bypassing more capable colleagues along the way. Despite the passage of time, the business culture remains largely unchanged from the father’s era. Unfortunately, the daughter’s lack of experience or innate talent results in outdated systems draining financial resources behind the scenes. Ultimately, the failure of Williams can be attributed in part to Frank, but it also reflects the broader issue of nepotism and the challenge of bridging generational gaps. Vowles has already highlighted that Williams was stuck in the past.

Frank gave his whole life to racing and building a F1 car, it has been said that the day Frank married, straight after the ceremony he was back at the garage, when Frank eventually stepped down and Claire took over, it was difficult time, William’s F1 team has always been about the sport, nowadays its not about the sport but purely a business where big engine names can use F1 to sell their product. Its an understatement to say how ruthless it is now, and a family run team like Williams stand no chance of competing against the mighty big manufacturers. Claire shoud have realuzed to change the business model i.e. look at HAAS where they pretty much outsource all their parts. It would have meant layoffs within the Williams organization for Claire but nonetheless they would have kept it within the family. Difficult decision that should have been done in 2014 or 2015 at the start of the turbo-hybrid era.

@@neiltitmus9744 - HAAS doesn't have the F1 know-how. HAAS entered F1 in the costliest times of F1. Sure they're a backmarker team, but so was Williams.

I really feel they should've started buying parts from other teams much earlier instead of developing every part of the car themselves, why build your own gearbox, focus the time and money on where lap time is gained, I'm sure people thought about it, just not sure why they didn't.

The vicious circle of needing to be at front to get mega sponsorship money, but needing mega sponsorship to get to the front bit Williams hard. It’s a great shame they had to sell the team but the name lives on in F1 as it should. Vowles can and will make improvements based on his experience at Mercedes. Would be great to see Williams climb back up the field.

I like Claire, don't get me wrong, and I totally understand her stepping into her father's footsteps, but I noticed it then about her, and I notice it still now, she is a HR person. She's lovely, she wants the best for her team and her employees, but she isn't a 'racer', she's a HR boss, and that was the reason Williams died the way it did. She was too occupied and concerned about the wellbeing of her employees, making sure they were fed and watered, that they got everything they needed etc. That's not what an Eddie Jordan, or a Fabio (Benetton), or a Christian Horner etc etc etc are about. They are tough, tough men, the toughest - out to win. She is better suited to working in hospitality.

Managing teams is managing people. Being a HR boss doesn't mean you're too soft. It means you're trying to extract the best performance out of he resource available. Carrot and stick. It doesn't matter what industry you're in, If it's competitive and has a high failure rate then some companies teams will fall by the wayside. Eddie Jordan failed harder than Williams did, in the Sense that Jordan as a brand doesn't exist, Williams as a brand and team still does. Sure her dad started that but she didn't do what Eddie did. There is no Jordon team now.. I met someone that knew Horner. he thought Horner was a joke, not a tough man. That's not to say that C Williams couldn't have done something different and achieved more success but 99% of people in her position would have also had to sold the team eventually. She admitted that she prob kept staff on for too long but that's not necessarily because she was afraid of letting them go. It just means that for her the positives in keeping them outweighed the negatives at the time. She may have been too soft (she doesn't have the alpha aura in interviews of only accepting 100% and focussing only on winning), but I dont think its for the reasons you mention,

TBF, the damage was already done. Based on what has come to light in the last 12 months, Williams had fallen 20+ years behind every other current F1 Team: 1. That ridiculous Excel spreadsheet that James Vowell's recently talked about i.e. using a spreadsheet to manage parts (stock) levels and lead times for manufacturing (no wonder the last cars have been late for the last few years) 2. Manufacturing facilities that have barely changed since the 90s 3. WTF were they thinking bringing in Paddy Lowe 🤦‍♂ 4. CFD and simulation tools that once again were so far out of date it's really not funny 5. When I 1st got into F1 in the early 90s I loved Williams but the way they treated certain people, left a lot to be desired and smacked of arrogance (you can get away with this when you're the dominant force but once that's no longer the case, you've got a whole load of people that are entirely disinterested in helping you out)

I loved Franks, Williams racing teams. But I always thought that girl was way out of her depth. Nothing personal against her, I understand the financial difficulties in that era,but I honestly dont think she was the right person to run that team. By all means be in the team, but I honestly think she ran that team into the ground faster then Grosjean through a safety barrier
