To be able to see this match up at ages of 22 and 25 instead of 42 and 45 would be a dream come true. Always been a Dr J fan since I was a kid and Kareem ain't no joke!

it's an interesting challenge, but the truth is that size makes the difference in a 1 on 1 challenge. Unless the smaller player can outshoot his opponent by making threes at every opportunity, the bigger and taller player will always win, even if he is technically worse.
@nonplayerzealot48 жыл бұрын
Kareem hit 1 three pointer in his entire NBA career. You know yer about to lose a pick-up game when he hits that shot too.
@buckeye23608 жыл бұрын
He had no time for 3 pointers, Because he was such a dominant post player, Kareem is capable of making jumpshots, He could have made more 3's in his career

Not a fair game. Dr J athleticism was gone, negating his advantage in speed and leaping ability. Kareem's Height remained 7'2." THis 1 on1 game would have been amazing in 1975 or 76!

Imagine how much Money Kobe and LeBron could've made if they played a televised, pay per view one on one match in 2009/10 (when kobe was on the way down from his prime, and LeBron was ascending). Millions!!!!!

@nbagoats481910 жыл бұрын
Babak Taher Kobe would have been way too scared to play Lebron or anyone else outside of 12 year olds in a one on one match up. Kyrie Irvin challenged him to his face and all he did was talk BS. Never stepped up.
@MrKittynitu10 жыл бұрын
NBAGOATS Really now? Okay I'm not a Kobe Bryant fan I personally hate him for beating My Sun's in the WCF, but even I have to say that Kobe is the best one-on-one player in the NBA right now and still was 2009-2010 I don't think that just because Kobe didn't want to play Kyrie doesn't mean that he's scared. You saying that is just crazy, honestly think about it, before you start hating on one of the greatest to ever play the game.
@nbagoats481910 жыл бұрын

@hongsz18 жыл бұрын
Dr. J lived off of his quickness and athleticism. Not saying Kareem wasn't either of those but he lived more off of his sky hook and dominating height. Of course at this stage in their lives, Dr. J had more to lose relatively speaking than Kareem in terms of their game. If they faced off when they were both in their 20's, game would have been much more different because Dr. J's fave move was always to drive in to paint not shoot outside jumpers.
@jshannon7778 жыл бұрын
i agree normally that would be the case the doctor would have used his quickness and went to the basket but he doesn't have the speed anymore so this played right in too jabbars hand
@zaynes509410 ай бұрын
@@jshannon777 And the height mismatch which wouldn't be much of a factor in a game with teammates around him, but since the Dr was about 6'6-6'7 himself and about 210-215 that's the real difference. Even now we see that with someone like Luka who will get a switch on someone smaller and will basically smile at this mismatch and knowing he can fade, hook, or back them down and dunk on them because of that.

Well I idiolized Dr. J growing up in the 70's. I taught my son a move that I learned from Dr. J, since he was never a good ball handler....grab the rebound and push/throw the ball in front of you you will have to run fast to keep up with it but your defender will not catch you. It worked for the Dr. and it worked for me. I am now fifty-one but at forty-two I was still hell on wheels.
