The cyclist He's an actor, he works for a studio, not for First or any other railway.

As a native speaker born and raised in the UK: For B1 Q3, D doesn’t always make sense, it heavily depends on the context. Suppose Max tells you on Monday “I have to work tomorrow” i.e. on Tuesday. Jen asks you later that day (Monday) whether you and Max can join her for dinner. You might then tell Jen, “I’d love to, but I don’t know about Max, he told me he has to work tomorrow.” If later that week on Thursday, Jen asks you “remind me why Max didn’t join us for dinner on Monday?” You would then tell her “he said he had work the next / following day” or simply “he said he had work on Tuesday”
