10 million students a month. why hasn't Sal Khan received the Nobel Peace prize yet?
@sameerathreya92538 жыл бұрын
I saw this guy in Times of India newspaper. People are beginning to know him. If he wins the world, there's no doubt that such a great prize must approach him!!

JZoidberg in upcoming years a Noble Prize in Literature or Peace should be given to him...
@IAm-cs5bo7 жыл бұрын
yo JZ, i agree with your point and i think the reason is because the real world rather celebrate stupidity on youtube or internet than real productive genius people like Mr Khan..

Marvellous. As soon as I started watching this I thought, God I would love to go to Harvard just to immersed in this kind of quality of thought, it seems like it's filled with people like me, and I realised that sitting here, in London, watching this video I already am - in a synthetic, though nonetheless real way. I think Khan Academy is brilliant, having just checked it out. As a musician and entrepreneur I want to change the world, and I think that tapping into these kind of networks will really help me achieve that!

If you have not become familiarized with Khan Academy and this is your first introduction to "what can be done", take a look. Sal suggests that we (endeavor) to teach 100% of the worlds population. Naïve - no, purposeful and while likely very difficult to do, we would be short sighted indeed not to attempt the task. In the world today it is the lack of education (not learning to the highest degree), but learning to understand and in that understanding knowing that others will use our lack of knowledge and naivety to turn us against one another to accomplish their task, whatever that might be. Well done Sal! Well done Harvard! Well done America!

At about 17:00 I started getting really really excited. "You're grand children and based on what is likely to happen in medicine your great-great grandchildren as well will ask you what it was like to be alive at the dawn of our awakening of our civilization and what you did to catalyze it." That is just extraordinary! I feel a sense of purpose igniting a generation to GO MAKE HISTORY!

I love Sal and he is one of my mentors! However, in the last months I'm thinking about what is his view on the specific problems of environment (oceans, forests, soil), climate change and earth biodiversity that we are now starting to confront. It's a fact, I think no one can argue about that. At 14:56 he says "money not as a superficial scoreboard of success but a command over resources to make the world a better place.", and I totally agree with the principle, but I'm unsure about the methods and who will be the privileged - only us, human beings, or all our biodiversity. I really want to know what are Sal's thoughts about this topic, I can't find any information on the web. (sorry for my english, I'm a 24 year old portuguese guy from Lisbon).

***** Hey Filipe, interesting thought. This may not be what you are looking for, but some friends I knew from University of Chicago and their friends from Oxford started any organization called 80000 hours. The whole purpose of it is to give people console on how they can contribute to society given their financial positions. Maybe you will not find it interesting but it is just my suggestion. Here's the link ("80000hours.org/")

Nice speech as expected but with all due respect what business does a Taiwanese pop star have at HBS?
@daniellee61339 жыл бұрын
Holf Amino Maybe this person will start a record company or already owns one and wants to make it more successful. This person got through the very strict vetting process, so he/she must had a good story for why to go to business school.
