I graduated in 99 and I remember the first time I heard this song. I thought it was really cool and I could even relate to it then. Here I am 20 years later listening to this song and relating to it now more than ever. I still love this song as much as I did 20 years ago, but truly understand it now. I am now 37 years old and I have twins who will be graduating this year. I play this song for them and tell them that one day they will truly understand the words... gosh I feel old!!

Insightful Jill, where *does* the time go? Remember when we were *young* we all wanted time to pass fast so we'd be adults and now it flies. This song, which was a speech Baz gave for the class of 99 set to music is still as relevant today as then. My daughter's a paramedic now and I still wonder how her childhood, etc passed so fast. My nostalgic advice for others:*appreciate every moment with your children, even when they make you crazy*, those moments will be things you cherish one day when they get to be adults and leave.......ps, when Baz says you're not as fat as you imagine, well, you're not as old either! :) Hugs!!

The bit about sticking with your siblings is so true: our family have been through : seperation, divorce, bad health, disliked other halves, the death of both our parents after struggling to care for them (seperately) in their final years...we've loved and hated each other, but we are STILL going strong, supporting each other through the good and bad times - that lineand "respect your elders" makes me sob....so simple, but sooo true...put the hard work into family relationships, you all need each other in the end!! ❤

I wish I had had this song forty-nine years ago, as I was leaving high school. Understand how good you have it: I did. In my twenties, I said, “The future is coming. And it’s going to be… GREAT!” I had not the faintest idea how bad things would become. Take care of your knees: Overdoing an exercise, I wore the cartilage off. This hurts more than you can imagine-it hurts more than I can imagine, and I have felt it. Your parents can disappear at any time: My mom in the hospital for an abdominal pain, out a week later for septicemia. So, dudes, dudettes: Listen to the advice, and USE IT!!

The day I heard this, it blindsided me just as the setting sun, returning from Jones ☀️ Beach. The visor was no help and made me pull over. Just as I did, my sobbing didn't scare the family of deer off in the bushes; mom and babies didn't mind. Its memory to this day shines like a stained glass window; I can feel the warm glow. The mental picture of its beauty, truth, and love. Its connection to family, love, loss, past, present, and future. I need to do my best to capture this picture. I'll share on google and comment when I do. 🙏❤️🕊️
