I use a flat shovel and move coals to one side and then the other while removing ashes daily and I fill it to the top with mixed wood, I get 8 hours of burn time, longer if I use just oak.

The unit heater that you bent the fins on can easily be repaired. Go to napa and purchase a fin comb. Then you can very carefully comb the fins back straight

I've found that when I load too much in I can't stir it around because it lasts so long. I'm working out some bugs being the first year. I think getting my wood under cover will help a lot.

Thanks for the videos! You think your burn time or burn efficiency would be increased if you stacked the wood differently in the boiler? This coming from a guy with no experience, be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Thank you. Yes I do agree I could of fit more in if I took the time. Burning all dry wood well stacked could of pushed it another 10ish hours..? Leaves it at 1am ish. So there’s the convenience factor too.

How many acres of woods would you say you need to produce enough for each winter? If you were never buying firewood from suppliers that is..

I've got a book that says back in the day someone needed 9 acres of forest to heat a homestead. Take into consideration they were probably talking about a non epa indoor woodstove. I have the same outdoor unit as the one in the video. When it's running right I am using very little wood compared to my old indoor woodstove.
