Good stuff. I have been heating my house with propane since last month, but it's time for me to fire up my CL 6048 before the water inside the boiler turns to ice. LOL

I am jealous! Something about a convetional wood stove is nice. Its on our list to do for our grand room. To help heat the house early and late season when we not running the boiler!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…. lol Mine has been running since October 7, but it’s our only source of heat. Been burning quaking Aspen, pine, and soft maple while the temps are still mild

We started ours late as you know LOL we just made it in the nick of time too. 24 overnight the first night she ran which was sunday night.

I couldn't justify the cost of an outside boiler. I put a woodstove in. This will be my 2nd winter heating with wood and I love it.
@HomesteadJay8 ай бұрын
Either way my friend we are in agreement. Wood heat, in any form, is awesome! That we can agree on! I have no issues with wood stoves. Theres something to say about directly feeling the heat and ambiance!

@@HomesteadJay Wife and I filled our woodbox with Locust yesterday. First night using the good wood. Woke up this morning to an inch of snow and 25 deg. LOVE the Locust. It holds coals all night. The Ash and Oak always burns out. Do you have a favorite wood for the boiler?
@HomesteadJay7 ай бұрын
Ive never burned that before but sounds amazing! I love maple and cherry in the boiler! I burn a lot of unsplit maple rounds it dries quick even not split! @@RVBob

I like Tony’s setup from TC’s Outdoors, he built a beautiful wood shed right next to his boiler that he’s filled with his ready to burn boiler wood. Check it out.
@HomesteadJay7 ай бұрын
Yeah thats the plan! A shed right around the boiler would be perfect!

Next build a roof and maybe sides. Personally I'm thinking gazebo that way the stack goes out of the center peak.

Are you going to make the fence solid now so you can't see the boiler at all..great video! People who don't have a 6048 just don't understand how amazing they are..I couldn't be happier

Thats the plan indeed. To seal off the fence so wife and family see less of my mess down there hahah. I agree. Regardless of wood usage they are awesome machines!

Are you heating your domestic hot water via the boiler. I do, and it's well worth the investment. As long as the boiler is running, you never run out of hot water, and you r not keeping 40 or 50 gallons hot when it's not needed!
@HomesteadJay8 ай бұрын
I am heating a 50 gallon hot water tank and yes you are correct we never run out of hot DM water! Ive seen some setups for forced air and then a "side arm" heat exchanger for the hot water tank but I think the way they did it here is "less" plumbing. The showers are way hotter with the boiler running indeed.
@J.R.Y.5588 ай бұрын
I have the heat exchanger on the water heater after my forced air heat exchanger on the furnace ductwork. It works great. We miss it in the summer when the boiler is shut down. Then the hot water is electric.
@John__Wayne8 ай бұрын
You mentioned the temp sensor that is teed in by your plate exchanger. What kind of sensor is it? I have one taped to the outside of a pipe but I question how accurate that is since it’s not submerged in the actual water.
@HomesteadJay8 ай бұрын
You are gonna have much more temp loss taped to the outside, now you can get an "idea" of what your water is at that way but the inline temp sensor is more accurate. Mine is about 8 degrees off but I know if I add 8 to whatever number thats what the water coming IN is at. I got this right from Central Boiler so google "central boiler inline temp sensor" and it should come up. i just found it. www.woodfurnaceworld.com/products/kit-indoor-temperature-display this may not be the cheapest site but you can shop around. thats the one I have.
@John__Wayne8 ай бұрын
That’s great, thank you. I like being able to monitor water temperature in the house and that looks like a better option
@HomesteadJay8 ай бұрын
Its great because you get direct temp IF its on the incoming side. If you put it anywhere else, depending heat demand, your gonna get a variety of temps. Email me if you need any help@@John__Wayne
