This video show all the streamline passenger cars which were sold as sets with diesel and stream line steam locos. It also shows the streamline cars of the Hudson. At the end of the postwar period, Lionel introduced also a set of scale passenger cars.
It belongs to a series of 38 videos featuring all 0 gauge Lionel products sold during the prewar period from 1915 to 1942. These videos are grouped in 4 playlists featuring locos, freight and passenger cars and accessories. Each playlist is introduced by an overview video. The total playing time is more than 5 hours. This is complemented by a 47 minute overview video covering highlights of the entire classic Lionel period.

The classic Lionel o scale sets are by far the most interesting. Most collectors focus on MTH and modern O scale. This is great, Thanks

Dear Sir, I don't know if you will be able to help me. I have been here on KZfaq trying to find an answer to a train question. A little backstory... I watch a lot of channels of people playing Agatha Christie Books turned into games. I just finished watching Murder On The Orient Express. Here is my question I do hope you can answer... the train in the game is a steam locoamotive that has to stop due to snow falling on the tracks so how does a 1934 steam locoamotive keep the passengers warm ? At one point in the game it is shown that the steam pipe has been damaged and the passenger cars are starting to get cold. I then stopped the game and followed the bottom of the train but can not understand how the heating was done of the passenger cars are connected. So how can a steam pipe be connected to each passenger car for heating. I'm so very confused. Please help with this answer. Thank You Sir.

I am not familiar with real trains and the model trains do not have heated passenger cars

Hope this helps.In the movie the locomotive provided the steam to heat the cars,which was the usual method at that time.Steam lines for this purpose were well insulated and steam was under high pressure.The higher pressure also caused the steam to move faster down the line so that line loses were kept to a minimum.Locomotives in passenger service some times were equipped with aux.generators to provide boosted steam on the line.This high pressure also aided in keeping cars at the rear warm.The whole concept was a marvelous and clever exercise in thermodynamic engeneering.Truthfully I'm amazed that it worked as well as it did.

Many of the old coaches and Pullman cars has potbelly stoves in the vestibules to heat the cars.

Hasty one.your right,actually at one time all cars were heated from a heater in the car.When in the service I had the misfortune of traveling on an old coach that was heated in this fashion.During a lay over as a through passenger the heater ran out of fuel.I can tell you if you have ever spent time in New England in January in an unheated any thing you know how cold it gets.
