Mars is also one of the most iconic, influential pieces ever written! Many movies ripped it off, including Star Wars. Quite a few bands too. Off the top of my head, the songs Am I Evil? by Diamond Head and The Reign ov Shemsu Hor by Behemoth blatantly ripped it off at the start. Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath too, but it's not as obvious.

It was Beethoven's 4th 1st movement with Carlos Klieber conducting, also one of fav conductors. that triggered me HARD, and to this day makes the waterworks flow among many other pieces. I remember listening to it but can't remember why or where. Senior moment i guess.

So many classic hip hop anthems use classical snippets they sample from. So yes, classical can go hard, and can get very sinister as well.
@justforever96

I don't think it needs to be used in hip hop to go hard. And in most of those cases, the hip hop song only goes hard because the classical samples they use. Not that I hate hip hop, I have discovered I have a liking for classic hip-hop, the 90s stuff in particular. I don't always agree with the message, but the underground east coast stuff is legit art, in my opinion. There is a great channel that only does underground classic hip-hop, his name is Nicola Armellin I believe, and he has really great taste, and access to an enormous amount of obscure old records and tapes. I thought I hated "rap music" until I found that channel a couple of years ago. French language hip-hop from the 90s? Sure. Great mixes.

I hear a lot of people glorifying these composers, painting them out to be these prodigies who churned songs out with ease. But I think they spent an obscene amount of time, obsessing, wrestling past their own boredom and desires to ensure each of these songs reached the heights they imagined when they first sat down with a fresh passion. They spent more time on these songs than the average artist spends on two albums these days. This grit and ability to focus on self improvement on a singular track is what makes me appreciate these greats. Cheers.

@@user-qp1xh4tw8l Lol, I think words like "piece" and "composition" sound pretentious, so I just use song to cover everything generally, even though I know a song technically needs to be sung. The same reason I prefer using the term "movie" over a "film". You would think I would really care about that distinction, making orchestral music for a living. Not sure why it has never bothered me.

Requiem: II. Dies Irae meaning From ChatGPT: "Requiem: II. Dies Irae" refers to the second movement of a Requiem composition, and specifically, "Dies Irae" is a Latin term that translates to "Day of Wrath" in English. The Dies Irae sequence is a medieval Latin hymn describing the Last Judgment and the wrath of God. It is often used in Requiem Masses, which are musical compositions dedicated to the deceased. In the context of a Requiem composition, the Dies Irae movement typically conveys a sense of dramatic and intense emotion, reflecting the apocalyptic themes of judgment and divine wrath. Composers often use powerful and ominous musical elements to evoke a sense of awe, fear, and anticipation associated with the Day of Judgment. The Dies Irae sequence has been a source of inspiration for many composers throughout the centuries, and it has been included in various Requiem settings in the classical
