смысл песни таков. В реке дух её утонувшей матери, и она пришла к реке и разговаривает с ней - во дворе полно людей понаехало, хотят меня отдать замуж, а меня сироту благословить некому, и просит реку хоть как то подать голос, а река течёт безразлично и не колышется - не подаёт ей не каких знаков. Потому жутко и мрачно

Unusual voice, but "shock" is, probably, the right word for it. Stressing me somehow:-) very uncomfortable. Never mind, just visited you after Nightwish with Phantom of the opera. Got dubious expression: strong singing, but (call me traditionist) their look is a total disrespect to opera. Like to see Devil singing religious songs. What do you think of it, if anything?

About the song "Rechenka": This is an old ritual song about an orphan bride. The girl has no parents. The river was considered the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. She goes to the river and asks for the blessing of marriage. She says that there are many people at home, but there is no father and mother. You hear Diana singing in a whisper. These are the words of the deceased mother of the bride. Then the girl is crying. In Russia, at weddings they sang sad songs to scare away evil and the marriage of a young couple was to be happy. Such songs were called “weeping.” The figures behind Diana are spirits of water and forest.

My understanding is that the girl's parents had died after she had promised to them that she would not marry without their blessing, and that because of this the song is pure tragedy. It is the girl's happiest day and all is prepared. But because of the promise, her conscience prevents her from going through with it. At the literal level she goes to the river and drowns herself. At the metaphorical level, this is signified by the fact that at the end she gets into the boat to be pushed along, across the river to the other side, the land of the dead.

А вот по легендам и преданиям, девушки часто топились, когда их выдавали замуж за нелюбимых. Отсюда пошли поверья про Водяных, Леших, Кикимор, якобы они путали людей и губили.

Diana abandoned at a bus stop with a broken shoulder. found and taken to a orphanage. there she did not speak. As there were no speech therapist she was taken to a singing teacher and found to have perfect pitch and learned how to speak by singing. From 6 years old she was winning talent shows. She won this one twice. If you are interested in this fantastic talent there is plenty more she had to overcome.

"Rechenka" in Russian is a caressing diminutive for "reka"="river". So "rechenka" literally means "my little lovely river".

Well this performance was epic I like russian culture and their storys and songs, they are able to combine sadness, happiness, mysticism and so called reality in a unique way - and Dianas voice is the perfect "media" to transport all this in a very emotional way.

One of my favorite songs from her is "Oh It's Not Evening Yet" She doesn't use any vocal fireworks but it's hauntingly beautiful. I believe you would really enjoy it.

One video of Diana's, in my sight, is a total masterpiece the like of which I don't remember ever seeing before in my long life. It's a must see for anyone that loves singing with unending emotion. The background of the song is essential to know. The title of the song is "Ornery (or "Fastidious" or "Finicky") Horses". The song has nothing to do with horses in reality - the horses are being used as a metaphor for life. The author of song is begging the horses to slow down (he is aware he is approaching death), but, at the same time he is whipping them along (his chaotic lifestyle) - he knows that his lifestyle is taking him to an early death, however, he is unable to change it.....the composer of the song, Vladimir Vysotsky, was a singer-songwriter, poet, and actor as well as an alcoholic & drug addict and died in 1980 at the age of 42. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ottonLpqp8m7nY0.html . Sir hairless, thanks for your reaction to one of my favorite songs from Diana. Her singing is so refreshingly different. She recently sang a song with another artist at New Years celebration in Russia that show cases her higher range that might surprise you. The song is called “DAY YOU…..”

Hi, thanks for your great reaction. Diana first appeared on the Russian version of the voice at the age of 13. She sang Yodel Time and none of the judges turned for her. The audience was outraged and there was a scandal and claims that the judges were instructed beforehand as to who to turn to. My favorite Diana performance is Oh It is Not Yet Evening.

Speaking of yodeling there is a video of her yodeling on one of these shows. I like pretty much all of Diana's songs but for me I really enjoy her interpretation of Edith Piaf's Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien. She has performed this one numerous times throughout her life and it has always been my favorite.

Hi, Thanks for your valuable analysis! 'Rika' means river. 'Rechenka' is an affectionate reference to the river. It translates to 'dear river' In the context, it is: "my dear river". There are many great performances. It might be better to simply choose at random. I would like to see you review "Jodel Time" from The Voice, Kids at age thirteen and "Blizzard" from You're Super at age fifteen and "It's a Man's World" from You're Super at age fourteen.

I love listening to Diana and this is my favorite song by her. It’s primal, it takes me back to a time thousands of years ago. Her authentic acting ability also enhances her vocals in this song. To me she’s as charismatic as Freddie Mercury. In fact Diana’s cover of Rechenka is on the same level as my favorite performance, “Somebody to Love”, by Queen in Montreal in 1981. (If you haven’t already reacted to the above rendition of “Somebody to Love”, I highly recommend it!)

Rechenka: le ruisseau in French= Stream in english. I can only attest to the music that starts as a tiny stream that goes on to become a bigger and bigger stream against challenges, fear, black rocks and ups and downs and then goes faster and faster and then becomes this powerful river that is now still and content. Superb reaction to this superb song that keeps on growing and growing and building and building. Love all of this!! Thank you!!

Greetings again from the UK! I’m so pleased you have reacted to Diana again as I always watch your Dimash reactions (and now hopefully Forestella as well 🤞🏻). Regarding this song Rechenka though, I first heard this sung back in the late 90’s by a Russian singer called Alla Pugacheva if you ever want to look her up to compare the two (however, i definitely prefer Diana’s version of it any day!). Also, regarding Diana yodelling, you may want to react to her singing Yodel Time which is absolutely superb and which she performed when she was just 13 I believe. This is such incredible, and utterly compelling music theatre. I think it is _extremely_ difficult for adults to match the unselfconscious intensity and total immersion in art and fantasy that children find so natural. Of course, despite this psychological advantage the vast majority of children lack the technical skills to compete with adults. But when, as in the case of Diana and other prodigies, a child is able to call on technical skills that most adults can only dream of, the psychological advantage they enjoy as children comes to the fore with mesmerising effect.

Anther great analysis. Diana is my second favorite singer of all time, after Lara Fabian. Her stage presence, at just14, is unbelievable. She's majestic even when she's merely taking a few silent strides (right after the raspy dead mother talking). That incredible slide and that fantastic ululating yodeling. One of the most uniquely creative performances I've ever seen.

I'd like to suggest a song by Diana that is far afield from anything you've heard so far. She did a cover of "Havana" in her bedroom that clearly demonstrates that she's a very normal, charming and playful teenager -- not just an astounding diva. It's heartwarming to see that she's not missing out completely on being a happy child as well as being an incredible talent.

Mas na correria ainda nao assisti e como esta me apareceu como sugestao eu me deliciei agora. Esta musica me arrepia o corpo todo. Eu amo Diana por que tambem sou contralto mas atuei como Soprano uma vida toda . So aos 35 anos acabei descobrindo minha verdadeira voz e extensao de quase 3 oitavas. Видела это уже 100 раз и опять пересматривая с вами переживаю все снова с тем же накала и слезами восторга на глазах. Как, как эта четырнадцатилетняя девочка может так петь? Какая то всепланетарная мудрость в её голосе и манере исполнения. Думается мне, что такие дети не просто так появляются на планете, у них есть какие то свои задачи, вопрос только в том - кто поставил им эти задачи?

The judges pressed almost simultaneously because they feared the song was ending, so panicked to press! Diana has a tendency to mesmerise the listener and this is not intentional, it just happens. 😊 I would be very interested to hear what you think about some of her latest performances sir. I wonder who is behind Diana's magical musical appreciation? Does she create these musical masterpieces herself, do others or is she part of a 'team' behind it all? Even the stage work, the choreography and presentation is absolutely impeccable. Whatever, the end result is stunning and completely unique. Diana is, of course, the centrepiece of everything. The Russians have a lot to teach us!

I find Diana to be an acquired taste…. Very disturbing and dissonant at times, but mesmerizing. I’ll be honest, I prefer when Diana sings in Russian. The timbre of her voice lends itself beautifully to some of the more atmospheric folkloric songs found in Russian. I found Diana after Dimash and have noted many people - myself included - likening Dimash’s vocals to lightness and Diana’s vocals to darkness. Honestly I have overcome this initial bias for both of them. Their vocals are unexpected. Diana is enchanting and is visually stunning. The dissonance and her expressive performance are truly intriguing. I have revisited Rechenka a number of times and feel differently each time. As always, a pleasure to observe and hear your reaction/analysis. Cheers from Canada!

Hi, since you mentioned her yodeling, please react/analyze her Jodel Time performance for a similar The Voice program. It is heartbreaking because even though she mesmerized the blind judges, fear to unknown techniques held them back from voting for her. Please have subtitles so you can listen to their discussion while she is performing. IF you have extra time, keep listening to the judges ongoing argument and regrets, they even asked for another song just to enjoy her, which she did acapella, she was a little sad backstage and between tears thank them for the opportunity…. I bet they are now regretting it….

Diana's voice is undoubtedly unique, but what really amazes me in her performances is the total commitment ... not just to the singing, but the complete performance. She really gets into the character ( of the song and story) and pulls it off... making it feel real. And she chooses to perform songs no teenager of such young age should have any chance to credibly get away with in the first place. But she does!.Nina Simone / James Brown... no problem whatsoever.But her performance of Vladimir Vysotsy's Ornery Horses, a song about a man racing towards his impending death ( like Vysotsky actually did) Had me in tears just because of the emotional overload Diana managed to put into it... And it visibly got to her as well.

Diana was on a show similar to The Voice when she was 13 years old. She yodeled and no judge turned for her. It created a huge controversy and rumors of the show being rigged. Спасибо за настоящие эмоции и профессиональный разбор. Эта песня в исполнении Дианы впечатляет до сих пор. По тексту песни. Это сокращённый вариант. Сюжет песни: девушка, после смерти родителей, осталась одна при большом хозяйстве. Приехало много родственников, чтобы забрать наследство. А для этого нужно решить за кого они отдадут замуж эту девушку. Её мнения никто не спрашивает. Подружки прибежали, чтобы её поздравить со свадьбой. Никто не понимает её отчаяния. Некому ей посоветовать. Песня начинается с того, что девушка убежала к реке( в славянской мифологии река граница между миром дивых и мёртвых) и рассказывает своим умершим родителям о своих проблемах. Слова "ой да, ты дитя, моё дитятко, ты чего сидишь, да не улыбнешься" это голос матери с того света. В конце песни девушка уходит в реку к родителям. Диана удивительно смогла передать в этой песне не только чувства девушки, её отчаяние, но и саму природу, как её притягивает холодная гладь воды, как решение утопиться нарастает. В русских народных песнях часто описание природы передаёт ощущения человека, его чувства.

не пишите всякий бред, распространяемый в сети - русские обрядовые (в т.ч. свадебные) песни, включая плачи, отлично исследованы, на исторических факультетах есть целые спецкурсы по русским обрядовым песням, важной части русского фольклора. "Реченька" одна из них и не надо для нее придумывать целую драматургию уровня телесериала.

@@user-jv6pu1kt9g вы путаете текст песни и сюжет. Для сравнения "Ой да, не вечер", испоненную Дианой на "Шоумаскоог": текст песни о вещем сне молодого казака, а сюжет, испоненный Дианой о молодой девушке-невесте, её сомнения и надежды. Любое произведение имеет свою интерпретацию.

Great info, really enjoy and always learn something from your reactions. Her version of Pauls Story from the Dune soundtrack will, like your opener, slap you in the head unlike anything you’ve ever heard. Its a belting of an Arabesque call to prayer but with drums, orchestra, and electric guitars. Its from a recent night of Hans Zimmer music. Your analysis of it im sure will be enlightening. Youll see over time the quality of her artistry gives an air of timelessness to her work. Im still struck with awe aand wonder to her work nearly everytime i hear her. And she’s just getting started.
