Tony LaRussa is the White Sox manager, 1982. And now again in 2021. Amazing.
@maverick1956hk3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, probably the most overrated manager in the history of the MLB. And Im a diehard Sox fan. I thought he was a joke in the ‘80’s.

@@maverick1956hk really? But his teams just keep going to the World Series. Yea you're a Red Sox fan alright
@maverick1956hk3 жыл бұрын
@@Shinobi33 Who said I was a Red Sox fan? Im a WHITE Sox fan. Any moron couldve gone to the World Series with the teams he managed. The problem was, once he got there, he didnt WIN many World Series. His strategy is very questionable and frustrating to watch and understand.
@Shinobi333 жыл бұрын
@@maverick1956hk oh I thought read Red Sox. Listen he's won 3 titles with 2 different teams. Just getting to the World Series is an honor. Jim Leyland won one just one title with my fish and he's a legend. Point is shit happens. And then you'll have some crappy manager win a title and never have a winning season again much less another championship. Dude is legit.

Funny to see the Intellivision commercial I was working as a repair technician for the Intellivision game when this was recorded. I got fired around a month later because I refused to work overtime. We had to work from 7am to 630pm and come in on Saturday for 8 hours. I didn't want to ruin my summer by just working so I missed a Saturday and when I came in on Monday they fired me. I was making $8.25 per hour which was pretty good money back then.

That’s a cool story. Also, Intellivision had a lotta nerve saying that their game was better than Asteroids! Lol. I don’t care if it was two-dimensional...Asteroids was great.

As an A’s fan growing up in the East Bay in the early ‘80s, I always thought it was cool the way Dwayne Murphy would wear his cap just lightly sitting on top of his head, as opposed to fitting snugly. If I remember correctly, the reason why he wore it that way was cuz he WANTED it to come off when he’d go chasing after a fly ball, just like what happened when Steve Kemp hit that long fly to center in the first inning. I’m not sure if he wanted it to come off so that he could see the ball better, or if it was just for style points, but whatever the case, the way he wore his cap and the way it would go flying off, that was Dwayne Murphy’s signature look.

He was a great fielder. I saw him mack a shoestring catch fully extended in front comming in. The hardest ball to judge from CF. He caught it right off the turf. Amazing fielder.

This was the 2nd time Howard announced the tragic death of someone while a game was going on,and,in both Lou Dimuro's and the first death that Howard announced live on air,John Lennon's,during a Monday Night Game in 1980,they succumbed to their injuries in a hospital a while later after having suffered their fatal injuries at around 11 p.m. in each of their timezones(Lennon died at around 11:15 p.m. at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City,and Dimuro died at Arlington Memorial Hospital from the innuries he obtained after his collision with a car walking across a street).I would think the odds that any other sportcaster has done the same would be incredibly low.

Probably the tail end of the run off of "Billy ball", as they would go on to have a losing season of 94 games. But it's only fitting that they were featured in the season premier of ABC's Monday Night Baseball. Dont think they got another appearance for the rest of the season except for maybe a backup game or two but I do know ABC interrupted one of their preseason football broadcasts to show Henderson break the stolen base record. White Sox would be on MNB a few times during these coupe years. A game about a month later where Steve Stone did color along with b(I think) Don Drysdale where Milwaukee buried them at Comiskey. They also had a memorable win in Kansas City on the season finally of MNB in 1983 where they'd go on and win the division. I think Greg Luzinski had a home run that game.
