ABOUT BARNEY MILLER: Show synopsis: Captain Barney Miller is the patient and wise catalyst who must interact not only with his staff, but with the volatile mixture of malefactors and weirdos who stream through 12th Precinct headquarters. Barney's staff of detectives bring their own personalities to the chemistry: There's naive Wojehowicz, sophisticated and ambitious Harris, and Dietrich, given to arcane Freudian explanations. Barney and his crew face unpredictable adventures and frequently bizarre assignments with professional dedication and an essential sense of the absurd.

Notice how much time each detective spends typing and filling out forms? This was ground-breaking in police procedural TV shows, dramatic or comedic. BRILLIANT!

This is absolutely classic! I never knew. This show is one of my all time favorites. The early ones are magic. Such good old time comedy. And, all the New York Jewish community actors! Fabulous 👌

Even though it was a set, The real buildings were built in the 1930s, last painted in the 1950s in the 1970s. It is really how things were in Manhattan. The Smog in the sky was really there too. Manhattan was seriously filthy.

I was going to say what a cool bottle episode, but then remembered that normally the entire show takes place in a single location at the squad room, so they're all bottle episodes anyway. This was a great departure episode for a change of scenery. It played like a French farce.

It’s definitely something that Archie should have gotten to scare off the burglars who broke in after he bought the gun for protection. Better than having Edith and Gloria replacing the barking dog recording with the song that they recorded, but got rejected by the record company.

@scarygary-qq1pj, Try imagining the possibility of Wojo visiting Hazzard County to extradite a hoodlum back to New York, and to save money on the cost of the airlines, he took the Amtrak to Atlanta, and then had to use the guest room at the farm to save on lodging fees. Afterall, it’s just possible that Luke Duke and Wojo were both in the same USMC outfit together in the war in Vietnam 🇻🇳?!

All the more reason Fish didn't want to retire from the force. Imagine him putting up with Bernice 24 and 7 with her clingy and processive endeavors instead of spending time feeding pigeons in the park? But I was glad he left the squad because I couldn't take his cynical and condescending babblings, not to mention his constant trips to the bathroom.
