However, the voice on the PA mentions Saturday lessons for the fall exams, hence why there are people in school. I imagine this isn't the only school to offer extra support so that's how the bodies there can be explained. Personally I feel this is a slight oversight on Bethesda's part but are accidentally saved by this announcement

I do know that in my high school there was a huge thing about it, whether or not to keep them, because someone caught two students having sex on one after classes were over. I think they just ended up getting that one professionally cleaned.

I've worked at schools for many years, and even thinking back to my HS days as a student, there were quite a few Saturdays where things were going on there. Sports practices. Orchestra practice. Drama Club practice. Special testing, like the PSAT and SAT etc. Community service. And also teachers doing extra work. My mom was a teacher, and there were many Saturdays spent cleaning her classroom, organizing supplies, prepping some presentation or project that was easier to do there than home (like making huge posters or diagrams- that way she didn't have to lug supplies back and forth). There could be a dozen or more different reasons why they were there. Of course, it could be (and probably was) the case that Bethesda simply made a mistake. But I think it can easily be explained away by considering how common it is for teachers and students alike to work extra on the weekends :-)

I don't know why, but that last bit when you were talking about how Bosco ranks up compared to the other raider bosses just cracked me up. All these raider-esque names...Bosco, Tower Tom, Red Tourette...and then *Jared.* Can you just imagine how much it must suck to be that *one* raider boss with the completely normal, non-raider name? If Bosco had contracted rabies from the dog bite, he wouldn't be stating that he is thirsty and needs to find water. One of the symptoms of rabies is hydrophobia-the fear of water. When people see a dog with rabies foaming at the mouth, what the dog is actually doing is doing everything it can to get its saliva out of its mouth. Yep, the dog is so terrified of water that its scared of its own saliva. This same fear in present in humans. Also, the time it takes for the rabies virus to travel from the point of entry to the brain is actually a very slow process and can take several days to weeks before symptoms will begin to show. So, either the dog didn't have rabies, or the writer working on this story was not well versed in how rabies works. Sorry, I am a nurse and had to write a paper on rabies in nursing school and find the virus fascinating so this story always irked me a bit.

Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston was Roman Catholic therefore it would have nuns and given that the PA system mentions a Sister Margaret we can assume that the nuns would be their grading papers from the previous week

My theory there are two major reasons why we find a lot of skeletons and ferals in schools despite the bombs dropping on a Saturday. First it was towards the end of the semester meaning final exams were approaching and they probably had Saturday Study groups. Secondly they would make great places for survivors and scavengers after the bombs fell. Think about in addition to the shelter provided by the school itself you would also have a supply of food from the kitchens and medical supplies from the infirmary.

Maybe it was Saturday school, a form of detention where you need to attend school early on saturday. for my high school it was from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM. you were given a set amount of time you had to serve so you came in when ever you could.

Little fun fact Oxhorn. In Japan, they have school or a work week from Monday - Saturday. Have Sunday off. Though also have school throughout the year with a month off for "Summer Vacation". Also throw in some holiday events and so forth to break things up. Also on a Saturday. Schools aren't closed. As it can be that we have teachers or students there for Saturday Morning Classes. To which either the bright or even those who aren't the most well-behaved end up going to do more work or catch up on class work from the week or the school year. So being my idea is this is a Fallout Lore School in North America. My guess is that these students and teachers were here because of Saturday Morning activities. And this being a Technical School. They may have been there for a normal day for Technical Learning.

Bosco is an amazing place. I loved the decent into madness brought on by the dog bite. All of these little raider gang stories are fantastic. Add some life to the nameless raiders out there. Also, Slim is a railroad sympathizer. Sisnt notice the railroad sign until i killed him.

Lots of teachers work on Saturdays either on grading papers or getting next weeks lecture ready. Janitors use the weekends to fully clean the schools. There’s also after school sports activities that are scheduled on weekends such as weightlifting football, baseball, wrestling, marching band, or basketball practice. Lastly, there’s community activities such as public speakers or the library that would be in prime use on Saturday. That explains the plethora of skeletons in schools.

In 1928 there was only 1 day on a weekend (Sunday) in 1929 the United States made Saturday part of the weekend this is the closest thing I could find to explain why teachers and kids where in the school.

Hey Oxhorn I think the reason why there are skeletons and/or ghouls is because those unlucky people were in detention. It makes sense a long time ago I think they had detention on weekends. As other have mentioned the teacher likely wasn't stuffed under the desk she was doing the old duck and cover that they taught kids back during the cold war.

Interesting fact: One of the things students were told during the cold war era was to use their desk to "duck and cover" in the event of a nuclear attack. So in some ways finding dead bodies under the desks in the schools would make at least a little bit of sense. Also have you considered a school sanctioned Halloween party? Or at the very least the preparation for one?

Hearing talk of school and "the beast" makes me think of the school boys from Lord of The Flies.

I've stealthed this high school twice and I basically used vats with pickmans blade so I could take each and every one of the raiders out quietly. It's so fun to sneakily take out the unaware raiders because it sorta reminds me of being stealthy in metro 2033/redux.
