Clayton made a comment in this video about another video where a viewer said something like "someone should stop him" talking about when he bought another Celica... and it reminded me of something my friend's kid said while I was watching the one of the videos the other day. My friend's 8 year old son was watching your video with me while we were waiting on my friend to get back from NAPA and the kid said "they have so many Toyotas... they have a Toyota Trap House!" 😂

What would cause lift not to work if the OCV screen is clean and the lift bolts are new? :(
@connor32884 жыл бұрын
Is there a problem with certain bolts breaking and if so why? I’m thinking of getting a matrix xrs 6speed when I part out my rusted tj. I know about the oil pump issue if overrevved and the unbaffled oil pan. What’s a good value baffled 2zz oilpan? I’m guessing there is aftermarket oil pumps available, worth the price and what’s the labor time to install? I never miss shifts not that worried about stock oil pump

Hey bro, what happened in the beginning where you tried to drill without hitting out the rocker shaft? Is it possible without having to remove the camshafts?
@2zzlow2 жыл бұрын
I tried drilling out the broken bolt but it had still caught on to a few threads so we had to pop the shaft out and manually extract it. its hard to rotate the shaft without pushing it out.

2zzlow you have a video tutorial for xrs rear brakes? Getting ready to do mine and never done the rears. I don't thinks it's that much different than the front but somewhat.

I have a video but it’s more of a set and shoot camera video style. I do show everything that I’m doing so you can probably mock me on how I do it in the video...check out my channel for that video

What are the lift bolts for? Is their only function to hold the rocker shafts in place?
@2zzlow3 жыл бұрын
That I know of yes
@177SCmaro3 жыл бұрын
The Japanese do some weird things sometimes. This never would have been issue if they just used a simple one or two bolt flange on the front or back of the rocker arm shafts to keep them from rotating out of alignment. This is a case of the "KISS" method taken too far.

How can you tell if your lift bolts are broken or if your vvti isn't working?
@2zzlow3 жыл бұрын
Pull out the lift bolts so you can see If your vvti isint working it will most likely throw a check engine light

PSA: under no circumstances try this if u are a rookie like me. Notice how he strugles to put the shaft back inside even thou the engine is out... DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE ROCKER SHAFT activates only at super hi compresion. Oil and coolant must reach 150 +/- degrees fahrenheit and the engine must reach 6.2 k rpms ... or higher. The engine head is made of aluminum . = run! For this repair - here - is extremely misguided, deceiving, This job is definitely painful to do , particularly for the rocker shaft part. and can cost you a replacement engine if u damage it. If is not done right for instance if u dont re- install it in the right position. or u can damage the head trying to remove or re- install. My project ended with the shaft unable to be removed. Even thou , i used a heat gun. The pros use a torch to slide it back inside but should only use when engine is removed out of the car, unless u dont want it anymore and decide u want to light it up. Seriously, dont under estimate the shaft is a real problem. They should have this warning. Bc the shops i called want to charge about 1 k to to fix this problem. Terrible

Calm down there...I’ve done this before the same exact method other times and it worked. Instead of whining try and do it yourself and don’t doubt yourself.
@3vilKilla2 жыл бұрын
Literally just did this today, pain in the ass while engine is still in car cause of space but you can still do it , so long as you mark your timing chain with cam gears and can manage to loosen belt tensioner to remove chain tensioner, regardless it is a hard job for someone starting off, with good instructions tho anyone can do it (also with basic tools too)

I think I messed up the rockershaft by hammering it out and pushing and hammering in back in. Hope it still works. I also messed up the Cam Bearings by removing the Intake Camshaft. I sanded it down so that there are no hard edges. Hope the 2ZZ still runs... Should have had a person to help me
